Re: Thames water and the vomiting bug (cholera) in Sydenham
Concerning - Has anyone got news about whether any of these local (to Sydenham) tests have come back positive with signs of pollution and bad bacteria? It's good to hear Thames Water is testing and I would hope (with their current reputation) that they shout from the rooftops if no evidence of dirty ...

Re: Crystal Palace Park introduces car park charges
Half an hour grace drop off and pickup time period. CP Park was becoming more and more an outlier in not charging for parking - even Sydenham's own Girton Road Car Park finally succumbed to charges recently (last car park in Lewisham without charges I understand). I might not like it but it seems a ...

Re: Lewisham's mayoral by-election
@Stuart - I'd like to think your analysis of pro ULEZ/LTN candidates is correct and will follow through to broader elections. However with this being a byelection and the low turnout I think we have to wait and see. But a great motivator.

Re: Consultation on Proposal to Close Silverdale/Bishopsthorpe Road to traffic
enforcement cameras will be erected to control access through the modal filter with work starting on the 27th of September. Let's hope the warning signs are clear and legible otherwise there will be lots of unhappy and "out of pocket" motorists. In reality the physical barriers were taken away (or ...

Thanks Stuart - interesting. I've put a link to the CPS news article about this - the Yahoo link you gave didn't give me anything. Agree how little news there is locally of this https://www.cps.gov.uk/cps/news/three-men-convicted-supplying-fraudulent-passports-criminals#:~:text=Christopher%20Zietek ...

Thanks Chris for the reminder. The implementation of the borough wide controlled parking system will be of interest. The link you posted to the Frequently Asked Questions doesn't seem to go anywhere - could you update it please? The funding for these actions is from the income from controlled ...

Re: Business/industrial unit on Newlands Park - what is it?
Just recently some of the MOPAC team (Mayor's Office for Policing And Crime*) have also moved to Newlands Park from their original offices at the old City Hall near Tower Bridge. So not just the police there these days. * that's the London Mayor Khan and not our Lewisham Mayor Egan. https://www ...

That's amazing. Good for non commuters too. Interesting what the ride will be like at the Sydenham points though - and how will they enforce red signals.

Re: Armed Criminality in Sydenham - Again
It seems that branch is permanently closed now. So the Nat West is the only bank in Sydenham now. There has been a debate about financial exclusion recently, shutting down all the bank branches seems to going that way. Wonder what the building will become? Good location opposite the station. Banks ...

Re: Unsurprising and unacceptable: All Lewisham schools fail to meet interim WHO air pollution guidelines
It's not good, is it? I'd be even more concerned if I was younger with school age children. But this is a problem for us all that affects us all - not just children. Unfortunately it's not in any one individual's power to solve - though individuals can change behaviours and set examples. They can ...

Re: Consultation on Proposal to Close Silverdale/Bishopsthorpe Road to traffic
Well at least this moves the closures to be based on more normal and standard regulations rather than the temporary emergency Covid related ones under which they were introduced - or at least that's what I understand. As always some will think these closures and restrictions to traffic are a good ...

Train services - Southern - disruption till 10th January
This seems pretty drastic affecting services to Victoria and our own Southern Service via Sydenham to London Bridge. Covid related. There will be no Southern or Gatwick Express services at London Victoria, Battersea Park, Clapham Junction or Wandsworth Common until Monday 10 January. Stopping ...

It really is disappointing how the MPS just doesn't want to acknowledge past (and not so past shortcomings). It's a different world now to 10, 20 years ago. "Policing by consent" summarised Peel's principles when establishing the original force as an ethical one. I just hope they change their ...
