Re: Beautiful new painted signs in Kirkdale

Congratulations and thanks to all who commissioned, designed and painted the 'ghost signs' at the top of Kirkdale. They look marvellous, and add class and a sense of history to the area.
Just one quibble (and it's a pet hate of mine). Instead of "1820's", shouldn't they read "1820s" ? This word is a ...

Re: The woodman

Are people aware that the Woodman is going to be converted for use as an estate agent's office? Wooster and Stock have a "Sold" sign outside the pub, and it turns out that they have bought it themselves and will be moving in. There has been a pub calld the Woodman on this site for over 200 years and ...

The owners of The Woodman have now displayed a "To Let" sign outside the pub, so at least we now know that it is owned by Admiral Taverns (one of the country's big pub-owning companies).

I phoned them this week to see what their intentions are, and it seems they are genuinely hoping to find new ...

A request to Mr Gerrard of Wealdfrost. Could you please clarify...

Will Weadlfrost be re-opening the Greyhound themselves, or will they be looking to find someone who will lease it from them?

If the latter, then there is probably no point any of us putting forward suggestions as to how they would ...

As someone very concerned about the fate of the Greyhound, I wonder if someone from Milford could let us know what interest they have so far received from potential purchasers of the site?

Have Milford put the pub onto the market via any of the well-known estate agents who deal with public houses ...

I understand that the current owners of the Greyhound are interested in selling. There are a number of pub-owning companies who might be interested in buying the site. I wonder if any of the following have yet been contacted? May I suggest to Milford that they contact some, if not all, of the ...

I heartily agree with the encouragements that everyone uses The Golden Lion more frequently. It is a gem yet somewhere that many Sydenham residents take for granted. The decor is priceless - you feel like you are stepping back in time 40 years or more. And they serve good hearty meals at lunchtime ...

I have read through all the postings regarding the Perry Hill and am very disheartened that almost every one is full of glowing praise for it as a restaurant. Does nobody out there value the traditional British pub?

This used to be an authentic pub with traditional decor. I took a whole load of ...

There is good news and bad about Sydenham pubs.

The new manageress of the Woodman hopes to re-open two weeks before Christmas. Sadly, the old decor has all been ripped out but real ale will be re-introduced (after a long abence), so let's all hope that at last this pub will realise some of its ...

There seems to be confusion about who actually owns the Greyhound at the moment. I understood that Milford had already bought it. However. Lee Barker's comments suggest otherwise.

It is currently leased to Barter Inns, who employ the staff who are running it at the moment. But Barter have been ...

It is heartening to see so many people taking an interest in the fate of the Greyhound, but disappointing that so few have come out strongly in favour of keeping it going as a pub. It has been a terrific pub in the past (many years ago) and could be again in the right hands. There are people out ...
