Re: Consultation on Proposal to Close Silverdale/Bishopsthorpe Road to traffic
Certain vehicles will be permitted to pass through, emergency services, refuse/recycling collection etc. - which I don’t think anyone will argue is a bad idea. Others, such a privately owned cars & motorbikes are not, as it is a traffic calming/air quality measure. I see a car go through almost e ...

Re: Broken window theory
Not specific to my street, a lot of the pavements are uneven/poorly repaired with overgrown shrubs and other vegetation blocking portions of them. Contact fix my street or BusinessSupportHighways@lewisham.gov.uk Hi, Did you get a response? I haven’t reported it yet but it’s got worse so will do it t ...

Looks like the signage is going up today, a camera has appeared on the Silverdale side recently as well.

Re: Consultation on Proposal to Close Silverdale/Bishopsthorpe Road to traffic
Don’t all road signs in England (or perhaps the whole UK) have to follow a standardised format? I’d personally struggle to feel much sympathy for anyone passing through without paying attention.

Re: Consultation on Proposal to Close Silverdale/Bishopsthorpe Road to traffic
Had a letter posted through the door this morning confirming that the physical barriers will be removed and enforcement cameras will be erected to control access through the modal filter with work starting on the 27th of September. This is for both Bishopsthorpe Rd and Silverdale.
Re: RIP
I have found a lot useful information in this forum but agree with the response regarding aggressive comments. I often don’t post or reply due to the almost inevitable paranoid diatribe that follows from a small minority. I really enjoy living in the area in general though so would be good to see m ...

Re: Catalytic converter thefts
Thank you, I’ll ask them about welding. The thieves had simply cut the whole section out with an angle grinder so not sure any of the preventative measures will combat that! The part itself isn’t even that expensive for my car but the remedial work will end up being well over 10 x the scrap value!

Re: Catalytic converter thefts
My vehicle was targeted at some point in the last week on Silverdale. One local garage that I spoke with said I was the third person today who had called about a similar theft/repair so criminals were potentially targeting this area over the weekend.

The same thing has happened with the Audi garage in Beckenham, closed then reopened a month or so later under another name (which I can’t currently recall).

I remember all the work JMLF put in & if he reads this thread, then I appreciate his effort.
Was the final design or location ever unanimously agreed on though?

Re: Sydenham Mural
I think the way it ended was no agreement on design, location or how it would be funded and potentially the Sydenham Society using their influence to block anything that they didn't agree with but I'm not 100% on that last part.

Re: Large public recycling bins?
The recycling bins at Bell Green Sainsbury’s have been fenced off for quite a while now. There are some recycling bins in the car park at Penge East station.

Whoever is clamping the cars in Sydenham seems to be very proactive, I haven’t noticed it anywhere else that I have lived!

You could always report the vehicles to the DVLA if they are untaxed and left on the public highway.

Re: Speed bumps on Tannsfeld Road
I think this can only be a net positive. Some double yellow lines at the junction with Girton Road would also improve safety as visibility for traffic emerging from the junction is massively obscured.

Re: Consultation on Proposal to Close Silverdale/Bishopsthorpe Road to traffic
This is the biggest load of nonsense. The only thing this is going to do is congest the high street even more. The only reason councils are coming up with these idiotic schemes is because there is less traffic so less people burning petrol. Its all about money!!! It will do nothing for the ...

Re: Consultation on Proposal to Close Silverdale/Bishopsthorpe Road to traffic
Had a walk down Silverdale this evening, both sets of road blocks have already been moved aside by (I assume) disgruntled motorists.
