Pro-sport (244-246 Kirkdale) Change of use
There is a notice of proposed development pinned up at the site of the former Pro-sport shop. The application is for the change of use of the ground floor from a retail shop to a restaurant.

STILL NO SYDENHAM CHRISTMAS TREE OR LIGHTS?!
Yesterday I noticed that we still have no Sydenham Christmas tree and the lights still haven't been switched on. Penge has had their lights switched on for a few weeks now, Catford has their lights on and their Christmas tree, so does Forest Hill...so what is going on?!

Decided to tweet them and pretend my knowledge on them coming was more than just a rumour- looks like they've confirmed it ;)

Re: Namaste site looking hideous!
This is not a fact. It is an opinion. Where is your evidence? I've lived in several areas of London which have gentrified. They were all scruffy dumps and then young professionals with disposable incomes started to move in, and it was those demographic shifts that brought about the changes that ...

Re: Namaste site looking hideous!
The argument that Forest Hill (or Crystal Palace or east Dulwich) is doing " better" than Sydenham seems to be about coffee shops, bars and restaurants and the odd deli or organic butcher. Gentrification in other words. Personally, I think the High Street in Sydenham, with its greater range of ...

Re: sydenham post office
Wow Kingfisher78. I'd be surprised if your disparaging view, because it's not a supermarket heaven, of the various Sydenham Road "high street" shops is representative of the many who shop in them.
The least good value of them all is small supermarket "metros" which add a premium (due to overheads ...

Namaste site looking hideous!
I am uploading some pictures of the old Namaste site. I walked past a few days ago completely shocked as to how the area looked, and yesterday while walking past again, I saw that there was no change. For those who have not seen the site yet, the wooden raised beds where the hedges were have ...

I completely agree with you Lee!
If there is no other choice, would Tesco not be interested in taking over? The current spot that they occupy is so small, with such little product variety that it would make far more sense for them to occupy the Budgens site instead.

Re: High Street banners
Chris - apologies for directing my frustration at the Council, clearly this is a multi-layered problem. So if Skanska had two clear opportunities to fix the signs securely then why did the work not get carried out? I find it hard to believe that their workload has not allowed them a single ...

Re: Litter in Sydenham
Yesterday was a ridiculously windy day so litter was blowing everywhere.
The road with the bus stops between Sainsbury's Sava Centre and the other retail shops such as Currys is always incredibly littered on Sundays. I guess it is caused by the crows going through the rubbish bins and pulling out ...

Litter in Sydenham
Hello
I took a few pictures of the litter that I saw around Sydenham Station Approach and on Sydenham High Street yesterday, as I thought it looked really bad. I have recently seen a lot more litter around Sydenham High Street and wondered what you think?
Spring Hill and the area around the ...

Re: 154-158 Sydenham Road
I just received this from Mosaic, who are behind the build:
"154-158 Sydenham Road has not hit the target of Spring 2017 due to planning issues, in turn planning permission not being granted in the timeframes expected . We are still working with our consultants and liaising with Lewisham Council ...

Thank you for your reply Biscuitman
Budgens
I think this will cheer a lot of you up. Budgets is going into administration at the beginning of March. I just hope the staff are looked after.

Re: Sydenham Christmas Tree
Perhaps the Sydenham Society might like to organise an event where local people make decorations and help to decorate the tree.
This is a great idea. I will contact the Chair of Sydenham Society a few months before Christmas 2017 to ask if she would like to organise an event like this. if not, I ...

Budgens

Re: Sydenham Christmas Tree
I'm really not sure how people think the Christmas tree on Sydenham High Street is "stunning," or "lovely." It seems some people's standards are so low that they would be happy with anything. If compared to the Christmas tree in Catford it really is very poor. Tall, thin and sparse. Catford is not ...

Site next to Sainsbury's Local - Previously Sydenham Beds
Hello everyone
I read that the site that used to be Sydenham Beds next to Sainsbury's Local would be fitted out and occupied by the estate agents Kinleigh Folkard and Hayward by the end of August. However, I haven't seen anyone on site yet, or any activity there. Does anyone know what is happening ...
