1) Armstrongs at the bottom of Dartmouth Road are very good solicitors.

2) Re a cleaner, try this number (in an ad on the back of Families magazine): 07767 034 045. It's for a cleaner (not an agency) who works in Sydenham - she will sort out your house, do your ironing, change your bedlinen etc ...

I note Costcutter are refurbishing themselves - lots of new fridges being installed - do they know something we don't about an incoming Tesco?

Did anyone else see it yesterday? At the back of the Home section is a piece each week entitled "I'm glad I moved to..." and here's a family who have bought into a small, leafy estate in SE26...

Not a newspaper, but there's Families South East magazine for families living in southeast London (there's a clue in the name), and online at www.familiesse.co.uk.
Lots of useful local information rather than gritty news from the courtrooms.

I agree that there must be scope for new business at the top of Kirkdale - the nearly finished flats where OoolaBoola used to be, and the other development of flats on the corner of Dartmouth Road will bring new customers - probably young first timebuyers/ renters. - The libraries (Sydenham and Forest Hill) both have weekly pre-school reading time groups with library staff (not sure which day, but pop in and ask - and they're free).
- Horniman Museum has a weekly Friday morning drop-in for parents/ carers with little ones - free again.
- The One O'clock club ...

Be brave- cross the river! I moved here from leafy Chiswick in 1987 having tried the W4 estate agents who laughed when they heard what we could afford and said they might have a shed to sell "or try Peckham". We ducked out and landed in Sydenham and haven't looked back.
