Re: New Italian takeaway on Dartmouth Road
I think you have to collect the food; I haven't seen any evidence that they deliver. But the menu in the shop looks very good.

Re: Trouble on Kirkdale/Sydenham Hill
There was apparently a serious accident at the mini-roundabout at the top of Sydenham Rise, and traffic was closed off from there down to the Horniman. All the buses were diverted, and there seemed to be no 356 bus running at all when I tried to take one mid-afternoon.

Re: Kirkdale Costcutter
Italian/Albanian is actually not an odd fusion; many Italian restaurants in the UK are run by Albanians. Italy has had an important historical influence on Albania and there is a many centuries-old Albanian community in Italy.
Would be a welcome addition!

Kids seem to be in the basement play area so not a disturbance. Though there is also other seating in the basement.

No idea. It is neither stringy nor unhygienic.

The Moustache
Just had a lovely lunch at The Moustache, the new cafe on the corner of Kirkdale and Dartmouth Road. It's run by the same people who ran The Montage in Forest Hill. Great coffee, lovely food, good atmosphere (similar to the Montage with vintage furniture and 20s-40s music). Lots more space than you ...

I was told by the peopke clearing it out that it had been bought by a developer. I expect they are now looking for a tenant.

Re: Mamma Dough
We were really looking forward to Mamma Dough opening, but when we went, the pizza was not that good. There was hardly anything on the pizza. Bona in Forest Hill is much better. So I think we will probably be going there in future.

Re: Current state of the property market in Sydenham
"Project Fear" is Project Reality, so I would not expect many people to be able to afford current prices in Sydenham for the next ten years.

Any news on Mamma Dough?
There has been nothing on their Twitter feed about Sydenham since September. Does anyone know anything about any progress on the site? I was looking forward to their arrival.

The colour is fine, but is it necessary to have the scrolling effect on the icons next to each thread? I can't stand things moving onscreen and if this remains I will not be able to spend much time here.

Re: Petition to Support the Redevelopment of All Inn One
It would be worth your looking at SE23.life to see a long thread discussing the issue in detail, including the issue of having a new tall building on the site.

Re: A Leaf out of East Dulwich Forum's book?
I agree that the EDF is much more engaged and busy than the forums in Sydenham and Forest Hill. The problem is that there need to be enough members to be sufficiently active. The SE23.Life forum has posts fairly regularly, more so than SE26.Life (the other Forest Hill forum is moribund). This place ...

Re: Kirkdale Costcutter
One of the people who worked there told me before it closed that the owners were deliberately running down the stock. But I don't know why, or why it closed.

I'm sorry they were not allowed their branding, but it looks very nice, as does what I can glimpse of the interior.
