Re: Loft conversion recommendations
I used Taylors Lofts back in 2014 and got a master bedroom with a separate bathroom (off the landing rather than en-suite) for about 60k but that included a new boiler and pressurised hot water system, new roof, electric skylights, and other extras so 40-50 sounds about right if you don't go mad.

Re: Bakerloo Line Extension
You wont lose the Hayes line. The tube will run on the same tracks (making the extension easier than other options), and be more frequent. I am unsure where it would be diverted? The Hayes line is already at full capacity so adding some Bakerloo trains means losing some of the current services ...

Re: Loft Conversion
I wouldn't expect much for 30k, I have had 2 different lofts done now and they came in at £50k and £60k (this was because it involved removing the previous bodged one and redoing). Obviously it all depends on the finish and the size.

Re: Sydenham too tatty for Caffe Nero
No, I think people feel Sydenham is a dump because of all the pound shops, betting shops, nail bars, empty shops, and the eyesore at Cobbs Corner that some people want to block development for.

The signs are there that the hipsters are moving in...it has a shop called Debris ("scattered pieces of rubbish or remains") which always makes me laugh when I see it

Re: RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM
I'm a little confused as to why Deliveroo is even being mentioned? It's not part of Nandos and is a completely different company so any bikes parked up are nothing to do with Nandos anyway.
Re: Sheds
I would try somewhere else. I bought a shed from B and Q previously and they are very poor, had to do quite a lot of remedial work after 3 years like re-roof, and attempt to seal up all the gaps with mastic. I just moved house and replaced a rotten shed with one from Tiger Sheds, it was 8x6 and cost ...

I have had a similar experience. We had booked them a week in advance to take my wife and bags to Heathrow where I would meet them after work. They didn't bother to show up and when I called them they couldn't care less.

Why do the press continually refer to Rolf Harris as from Sydenham? http://www.newsshopper.co.uk/news/14180971.Sydenham_paedophile_Rolf_Harris_hires_costly_lawyers_in_bid_to_appeal_prison_sentence/?ref=mr&lp=15 He is quite clearly Australian and was born there and just because he lived in Sydenham ...

Re: List of Traders, Builders, Services
The trouble with the Virtual Norwood Forum is that they do not allow negative reviews as they are *very* scared of legal action so the reviews are very one sidedThere *is* a rather mixed one on the Virtual Norwood forum, though - it allegedly covers Sydenham.

Re: Can anybody recommend an estate agent?
I think they quite often just ask the agent to justify the price so the agent just gets out some details of similar proprties that they have recently sold. The bank doesn't really care as long as the valuation exceeds the mortgage amount and is in their loan to value tolerance.

Re: Can anybody recommend an estate agent?
Just wanted to state the obvious...whoever is giving you a value needs to be aware of the local market. We had a guy from an agency based in Forest Hill who gave us a valuation of 200k less than we we are currently under offer for, he had based his number on Zoopla plus 50k. I doubt Zoopla will take ...

Re: Can anybody recommend an estate agent?
We are currently selling through Pedder and am very pleased with them. The photos they took make our house look awesome and we got an offer above asking price after just 1 week (along with 2 other offers). Their valuation was higer than Property World and KFH and were confident from the start they ...

It's a problem anywhere near a station. While I don't generally mind people parking and commuting I have noticed a worrying trend in people parking in the most stupid places - the junction with Newlands Park and Westbourne Road is getting silly, cars are often parked on the curved part where the tw ...

Why did they break up the slabs in the first place? Can't they just lift them, do the work and then put them back?

Re: Motorbikes riding on the pavement today in Sydenham High
Maybe a harsh viewpoint but I don't see why the Police/society should be all that worried about the risk these criminals choose to take with regards to their own health. They should be pursued and caught. I totally agree, the police can chase a drunk driver speeding along the road who probably ...
