Re: Moving to Sydenham
Hi everyone! My partner and I are about to move to Sydenham after years of renting a little farther north (Elephant and Castle area). Contracts not yet exchanged, but... nearly there! So what bit of local knowledge would you share to a complete newcomer to the area? We'll be moving not far from ...

Re: Masks after 19th
There is no logic atall in going from all the regulations in place to removing all the regulations in place and then issuing guidance. And tge contradictions in the ruddy rules such as no quarantine for double vaccinated to return from holiday but full quarantine for double vaccinated if pinged is ...

Re: St Philip Neri school: Archdiocese appeals planning enforcement order
Lewisham LA has very significant experience of decanting schools whilst works take place, lots of lessons learnt, and plenty of good advice available ...so no excuse for dismissing decanting as "impossible" or whatever!

I think JMLF eventually got sick of the whole thing because of no decision/agreement being reached..I seem to remember a lot of debate on location etc. I agree re holding out for a great site but there is a danger that without compromise it will never happen and people like JMLF will be lost to ...

Re: Lewisham planning 400 flats for Sydenham Road
Having decisions being made on a shop-by-shop basis will lead to conversions being peppered across different shopping parades. Far better to take a strategic view of the area, and consider where the shops should be protected, and if there are outlying groups that might be converted to acceptable ...

My experience with Sydenha. Geen was positive and efficient. A text telling me to make an appt. with a link. Several spots available, booked one, went down, good systems in place, friendly staff and volunteers. I was really impressed

Re: Lewisham planning 400 flats for Sydenham Road
"Could conversion of retail units to residential actually be a good thing, if it had to be done well? I mean, we have a very long high street and perhaps we should face the fact that that length cannot sustain retail units all the way along" I absolutely agree with this. I am so tired of seeing ...

Re: Lewisham planning 400 flats for Sydenham Road
High Streets need to change. Housing is needed! One good thing that could come out of the last year is NOT returning to the status quo and some imaginative thinking on development for a new way. Arguments against development because it happens to be where a "best husiness" is are short sighted and ...

I agree re the Dolphin. I think they should also offer some of their old regular fare, it was popular! Pizza seems a bit of an odd choice with 3 other options on the High Street - Mama Dough, Tart Raff and Mad Dough !!

Re: Social distancing on the High Road
I have found Sydenham and Penge similar really. A few people who seem singularly unaware but the majority being sensible. I do cross the road a few times if necessary when there are queues. I also turn off by the Nat West and go down the parallel road to Mayow Rd (and same when walking up) to avoid ...

Re: PFC Penge Food Centre Sydenham Road
Billings is brilliant for fish and meat and some cheeses and deli stuff as well. Fresh and Fruity great selection and they are so fair and nice, take anything bruised away, give extra in the bag etc. At the moment they are working so hard with gge Sydenham murual aid group to get supplies to ...
