For all those complaining about the additional traffic on Sydenham Road and Mayow Road - the whole point is to encourage people to walk or cycle rather than drive. If you don't like being stuck in your car, think of the alternatives.

Yes, but it takes time to plan, consult and fund. Phase 1 is approved, and construction will start in due course Phase 2 is the proposed extension to Catford, Sydenham and Hayes.

And even if it does, I have very major reservations about losing the Hayes line. It's quite long enough as it is - and getting longer - without diverting round any more of SE London than is absolutely necessary ...

I thought it was already a star crossing. Both directions go at the same time.

I confess I haven't looked very carefully at the timetables online as I'm not sure what the names of the routes that currently go through Sydenham are but does anyone know how drastically the trians are set to change from May 20?

The Sydenham Society did not make any comments to Lewisham about this application, although it was discussed. However our feeling was that it was over-development and we have no problem with the decision to refuse for the reasons given - see below:
