Re: Best letting agent?

Thanks guys, some great advice there. I get the feeling that £1000 per month would be around the mark for a good 2-bed on a pretty nice road, but I agree it's better to charge less to save on turnover of tenants, and then it's a win-win situation.

Best letting agent?

Who would you recommend as a letting agent please?
And what would you say is the going rate for a nice 2 bed flat in Trewsbury Road?

Re: I need a washing machine repair man!!

Hi, does anyone else have any recommendations please?

I used the guy beside the carpet shop before, bit of a long story but I wasn't really that happy as he failed to diagnose the problem correctly initially and put a new part in before he realised. I think it was an honest mistake, but still ...

PLEASE COME BACK TO THE EAST DULWICH FORUM!!!

Pretty please. It's not the same there without your piss-taking and funny posts.

I know you post on here because one of the regulars on the edf told me, and a lot of other edf'ers miss you too.

I'm not telling you my name on the edf but you make me ...

I can see that it is a pity that this old, traditional shop-front was removed after being there for so long.

However, it seems that these people are opening a cafe.

It seems probable that their name is not G Machray.

So I can completely understand why they would prefer not to have G Machray and ...

Erm, how about a little bit of perspective on this one please?

It's a bit of leaded glass that has been slung in a skip, not the Sistine Chapel.

IMO the frontage of Machray's was out of keeping with the rest of Sydenham Road anyway.

With respect, I doubt if any technophobe could follow those.

In my experience the only way for something like this to be sorted is for someone who knows what they are doing to be on site and actually do it, unless the user has some reasonable basic techincal know-how, whereas ALIB says he is a ...

If ALIB says he doesn't know what an error message is, there's not much point expecting him to telnet to his email server now is there?

Silverdale sorting office - plans

I may be behind the times here but what is the latest on plans for this building? Is there going to be a market hall / exhibition space?

Or is all of this still under wraps?

Wow, pretty mad!

But I can't understand how a rat (which would be notorious for gnawing through wood, wires, etc) couldn't fight its way out of a plastic bag!!

A couple of points:

1. I can understand your apprehension. I think the risks are low but no-one can say they are not there, so it makes sense to exercise caution in any way that you can. However this is true everywhere in London.

2. I think it is generally less safe in darkness. Daylight robbery ...

Off topic - but isn't it a sure sign of a Sydenham inferiority complex if we have to knock CP to make ourselves feel better?

CP is a lovely area, and has a great centre. It's not without problems (traffic etc), but as regards restaurants its fantastic - Numidie, Tamnag Thai, Torres (sp?) etc etc ...

How about a tasteful pastiche to include a green dragon, a golden lion, a grey hound, and a, er, bluey-grey dolphin?

I think maybe the green dragon has the advantage of being something old that is no longer in commercial use.

It goes far back in the history of Sydenham as a village ...

Of course it would also make a great name for a re-developed pub...

I am not advocating renaming one of the pubs whose names have a long history in Sydenham, but if ever anyone takes over Th'e Tw'o Half's'....

Mind you they probably serve Green Dragon in there.

Weathervane idea is good, seeing that was the original model, as well as using it as an icon for street furniture.

Could be good (if controversial) to have more than one, at the main entry points to Sydenham, as a kind of visual cue that 'you have arrived in Sydenham', in the same way that dragons ...
