Interesting about how that'll affect airbnb. I'm with Rachael on this - I'd rather HMRC pursues the big tax evaders vs someone renting out a room!
Plus there's the rent a room scheme with HMRC which might apply to some of these landlords https://www.gov.uk/rent-room-in-your-home/the-rent-a-room ...

Re: Project Zanzibar–creating a venue that’s right for Syden
In the meantime, even though I'm not that close to the club, I have received a letter from Zanzibar dated 20 July apparently from the new operations manager, Terence Reid, who signs by way of Microsoft Word font. I can't scan it right now, but the usual things - club is under new management since ...

Thanks Annie, we'll try them next.
Alywin, yes over-valued. Looking at another similar-sized place they valued for similar, it has been on rightmove for ages now. A friend who is looking in the area at the moment also says that they are the worst for over-valuing (after foxtons). I do think they ...

Re: The Windmill has closed down
Mary, do you know whether there's a good alternate pub operator lined up? I know a lot of people did not like the idea of a sainsburys, but it would have attracted an increased footwalk to that stretch of road, which really doesn't need another empty building

It's quite silly really, it's not as if you were not picking up after your dog!
I also don't get the 'there are children living on this street' comment - apart if your dog was not on a leash and looked about to maul a kid.

Re: Sydenham Market - Saturday, 10th May
I'll have to chime in as well about the lack of promotion, I wouldn't know it was there without this forum. Something at both exits from the station would help, especially if these markets are going to be monthly. It's very easy to not even see the venner sq market if you use the spring hill exit on ...

Re: Exciting new kirkdale developments?
Thought to add these here instead of the pop up thread - was going past 161 Kirkdale yesterday, and there's a new note from Belinda & Charles about opening a cafe with coffee, wines and craft beers. Included photos below, apologies for poor quality, was trying not to seem too suspicious taking ...

Re: Sydenham welcomes Tattoo Shop
I don't have tattoos either, but sister and friends do I like seeing the addition of the tattoo shop to that side of Kirkdale, very nice signage and the glass view gives a lovely glimpse of the art hanging inside. Good luck to Rob and everyone else involved in the business!

Re: Adverts
Same here, I use adblock on chrome, and always am surprised when I see ads on the forum when checking it on my phone!
Strangely, ads for me on work pc is about emigrating to Canada and less strangely about donating to Médecins Sans Frontières.

Re: Project Zanzibar–creating a venue that’s right for Syden
This sounds great, there's so much potential for how the place could be developed to both profit the owner and also serve the community! Will definitely keep an eye on this.

I wonder how many people know about the hearing on the 19th? Was there any notice/letter distributed at the houses most likely to be affected by the club? Or is it just by word of mouth and whoever is checking the forum? Is there a possibility of something like that to be organised - distribution of ...
