Re: Barratt Homes / gasholders site: make your comments NOW!
Approved tonight at the end of a four hour meeting, where some very relevant points were heard, before the councillors were told in secret to approve it anyway.

Re: Consultation - Bus Lane, Southend Lane (Bellingham Side)
I would like to see something done about the bridge for pedestrians, as there is only one very narrow path under it and people can only walk in single file and have to give way to people coming the other way. And then you have cars zipping through inches away from you. It falls far, far short of the ...

Re: Consultation - Bus Lane, Southend Lane (Bellingham Side)
We should aim for segregated cycle lanes, rather than paint on the road. Southend Lane, and many other roads this side of the bridge benefit from being extremely wide. If the car parking in the outer lane of what is practically a dual carriageway, was removed, along with the wasted space for the ...

Re: Consultation - Bus Lane, Southend Lane (Bellingham Side)
It does seem like a wasted opportunity not to put in cycle lanes. Or at least cycle lanes joining up the gaps in between bus lanes. A bus lane is of some help, but also has very large buses in it, which stop frequently, so not ideal. I presume the bus lanes will be camera controlled to deter people ...

Consultation - Bus Lane, Southend Lane (Bellingham Side)
TFL and Lewisham council are proposing significant changes to the road layout on Southend Lane on the Bellingham side, to put in bus lanes. There is no pedestrian phase at all on the junction with Worsley Bridge Road and Southend Lane, which makes it very difficult to cross safely, particularly for ...

Re: New Marks and Spencer at Bell Green
I would like to see the entire area redeveloped into housing. There would still be shops at ground level! Ideally a new village, but still room for supermarkets with housing above. So, not just 'local' supermarkets, but probably smaller ones that serve the local community rather than people from ...

Could go on about the junctions, railings and lack of bus or cycle lanes forever, but deserves a dedicated thread really.

Re: New Marks and Spencer at Bell Green
I read the documents. Given the issues with the numbers of vehicles travelling to this site, and the associated pollution (and litter) I was expecting to see some sort of analysis of the potential impacts of opening another food store on journeys made to the site. But the only analysis is below in ...

Re: Vote for NCIL funding for local projects
Always find these things quite restrictive. I looked at Bellingham. There is a major problem with the traffic lights in Bellingham side of the Southend Lane Bridge. There are zero pedestrian phases. It is very dangerous. My child is now walking back from Sedgehill past this junction. But nothing in ...

Re: Broken window theory
I do keep thinking of putting my own signs up on some of the raised grass areas, pointing out they are cleaned by volunteers and asking if they could wipe their own arses... Thought about it again today when I emptied yet another litre bottle of water, filled with urine and shoved behind a green box ...

Re: Broken window theory
Fantastic work, thank you for helping to keep Sydenham tidy I cannot understand people who just throw their rubbish on the ground even when there are bins close by Seems all my images broke, so I've re-added some... It's complicated. Sometimes it's the birds emptying the bins. Or foxes. Sometimes ...

Re: Did you vote?
I voted Green too. A safe Labour seat ATM, so freedom to lend my vote elsewhere and have no effect on the official outcome. Plus, the Labour run council aren't a great advert for Labour, though I'd rather have Labour in charge of the country than the Tories. Not sure it makes a great deal of ...

Re: New Marks and Spencer at Bell Green
Opening up an M&S Food in a section of Curry's on a grotty retail park is not the regeneration I am looking for. This retail park's days are numbered. The question is, do you want a load of high rise towers slapped on there or some sort of sensitive redevelopments with a village and a leisure ...

I've heard the hope is to install this in August.
In other news, seems (on twitter) like the ulez nutcases might be targeting traffic lights again after they lost the election.

Re: Broken window theory
On a proactive note... I chucked a load of wildflower seeds on the raised beds by Stanton Way in Autumn. Just after Glendale had cut it back. Starting to see some Yellow Rattle coming through and some Common Corncockle. Hopefully some more will come, but the grass could have done with a cut in Feb ...

Re: Did you vote?
I voted green x3. Not expecting anything from it. But really struggling to vote Labour, based on interactions with the council over a long period (though I have had recent productive conversations with Louise Krupski, who is now deputy mayor, about the litter issues). I really think it's time some ...

Re: Barratt Homes / gasholders site: make your comments NOW!
I heard there were a lot of problems with the application and there is supposed to be a meeting with the developers at some point. I wouldn't expect a decision for a while. It may have to go back to the drawing board.
