Hi Chris
As setting up a friends of the high street group was my suggestion I would obviously like to be involved in anything of this name! It would be good to know what you talked about today - I think we need to create something distinct from the existing local groups which would proactively ...

Re: Sydenham Market is back on 2nd Saturday of the month
Hi Sugahill and others
I'd be interested in forming a Friends of the High Street group if others were too (doesn't have to be a big group initially) to see what could be achieved.
I'm encouraged by the voices on this thread and it feels like a good moment to try and do something positive with so ...

Assembly Fund bid to restore painted shop fronts?
Would anybody be interested in helping me put together a funding bid for the Sydenham Assembly Fund to help restore some of the shopfronts along the High Street? Starting in the Conservation area.
Would obviously need support of the shop owners but would really improve the aesthetics of the High ...

Re: High Street banners
Couldn't agree more Lee. I'd love to help get the High Street tidied up! Nunhead have done a great job reverting to hand painted shop signs (both traditional long standing shops and new ones). A coherent design strategy would not necessarily cost much to implement (if each new shop was given ...

Re: Sydenham Market is back on 2nd Saturday of the month
Sydenham market and the high street as a whole are suffering through lack of any sensible strategy. All around us others are flourishing and it seems a shame we're not.

Re: Parking problems
Hi Ian
Thanks for your response - I've sent you a pm in addition to my original message via Facebook.
I'm aware that Lewisham don't currently use 2 hour controls but there's no reason we can't lobby for them to introduce them. There's a clear precedent for their use and success in neighbouring ...

Re: Parking problems
It's a nightmare to park during the day at all and a serious issue for anybody with young children, mobility problems or even heavy shopping.

Amazing work - well done! I was thinking I wanted to do the same last time I walked by but am poorly at the mo so not able to do anything physical. Definitely up for helping out when I'm back on my feet again. Huge thank you for your efforts x

Re: Longton Avenue/ Wells Park Development threat
I've looked at the proposal in detail and it looks like a very well thought out design which I believe would enhance not detract from the area. The building is a good example of modern design which the area is in desperate need of. Ordinary families cannot afford to take on and restore a dilapidated ...

Re: Parking problems
I agree wholeheartedly with some of the previous suggestions. Why waste money with consultations which simply put off the inevitable introduction of controlled parking zones. The city's population is increasing at its fastest rate and car users are on the rise. Every other area I visit in London has ...

Re: Parking problems
I would DEFINITELY back a CPZ scheme - parking for me is a daily nightmare and massively reduces my enjoyment of living in Sydenham (the permajam down kirkdale doesn't help either!)

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?
I really hope a nice restaurant opens there. I'd love somewhere local to eat with the kids. We went to Honest Burger in Peckham yesterday and it's awesome. Somewhere like that would be perfect in Sydenham. Great food, great design, great staff and really good value. Hope you are reading this Honest ...
