Re: Homes under the Hammer
It was Byne Road. The road looked lovely, and that house (and those houses on the Road) are very pleasant late Victorian houses (I would guess 1890s)....

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?
Autumn 2020? or preferably before doomsday so we can enjoy a drink or two....
;-)
In all seriousness, it would be good to think someone can kit out the place in a few months. Sainsbury's appeared to turn a shell of a building into a fully functioning shop in the blink of an eye! (well, a 5 week ...

Commercial unit next to Penge East station
Hi everyone...anyone passing by Penge East station (on the Newlands Park side) may have noticed that the small commercial unit that has been long closed (15 years+?) has been fenced off. It's the one virtually connected to/under the listed railway bridge. There was a 'demolition' sign, but I would ...

Thanks for the regular updates JMLF
Regards the premises next to Le Shakes:- when that was built (10 years ago??) there was rumours of an Argentinian restaurant.... no such luck and it's remained closed off. Any rumours on whether that space will ever be occupied?

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?
Hello all.
This thread has gone rather quiet.
Is there any known news re the occupier of the Greyhound? I believe (from previous comments) that there was due to be a review of proposals by end of April, so as to choose an occupier by end of this month (if I have understood correctly).

Re: Redevelopment of 278-280 Kirkdale (by railway bridge)
I'm sure this premises was under offer, but has since vanished off the Acorn Commercial Website.... does anyone know of any update on this potentially exciting venture? It's one of the most central and visible locations in Sydenham and so deserves to be something of interest (here's hoping)
Re: Bob Wines
I can add my favourable comments regards Bob Wines. I believe they have an excellent selection of wines and beers (many local South London brewed favouries!) which is great given their relatively small size. It's a lovely addition to Sydenham and I wish them the very best of luck in their new ...

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?
Is the 'under offer' relating to the Sydenham Beds venture in there now? Or a longer term commitment from another company? The latter would appear more logical, but does anyone have that knowledge?
Thanks all
Thanks all
Re: Bob Wines
I must say - the outside of the shop has been smartened up and the inside looks very fine and clean/fresh. What a lovely addition to what is a very central and visible location in Sydenham.

Re: Redevelopment of 278-280 Kirkdale (by railway bridge)
It will be good when the new occupier takes over - it would seem probable (one would hope) that an occupier would wish to smarten up the area in front of the premises ASAP.
Has anyone heard any news on who our new commercial neighbour may be in the Orb?

Thanks Pat.....
Best wishes to the new venture in that unit....
Does anyone have any news on the Greyhound itself? I believe Pat has said offers are being considered during April.... but are there are rumours?

Pat - thanks very much for the updates you have posted. In between the chat on coffee shops I did spot that VERY important one :-)

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?
The spare retail unit that was the site office for sainsbury is a hive of activity today. Moving in wood and shelving etc. Not sure if it now site office for greyhound or if someone is moving into the retail space.
We have heard a rumour today regarding this unit.
Well don't tease! What was the ...

I was speaking to the guys at Nisa local yesterday & in his own words 'we don't know what to do' since the opening of Sainsburys there trade has dropped off dramatically such a shame they are nice people no doubt an opening of a generic coffee shop here would do the same to us & probably blue ...

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?
Great news - and this is echoed on the Acorn website where the property is listed now as under offer - just in the last ~ 24 hrs. The same is true of the Orb commercial property opposite which has also turned under offer...

Re: Cryptic message on Twitter re Late Knights/Beer Rebellio
Hi - does anyone have any news on the Alexandra pub?
It's such a lovely building and it's shame it's currently an eyesore opposite the lovely Alexandra Nurseries....
I believe Late Knights were seeking to take over, but once certain building works had been completed..... Any rumours out there folks?

Re: More restaurants for Sydenham
An ideal 'vacant' location would be the old 'Regency Club' opposite the new Sainsbury's. The footfall there is pretty high (to and from the station) and it's very central.
The area around the Greyhound could be a REAL foodie heaven, if certain things came to pass:

He (or rather it ) sure is....
And isn't it nice to see care and attention in re-decorating the premises and the outside of the building. Good old fashioned pride in appearance. I wish all shop keepers held this value....
