Needless to say, if they hadn't cancelled Southern services from Charing Cross a few years ago, some of these problems will have been avoided.
I saw this coming so moved out of Sydenham three months ago. My sincere sympathies to all those who are suffering

Re: The Windmill has closed down
If you want to keep the Windmill and you have £950k to spare then you can buy the freehold. http://www.eatongreen.com/commercial/details/index.htm?id=136

Mega Phones
The mega phones are back at Sydenham station providing helpful instruction to the weary commuters about how to board trains. However did we cope before them?
Interestingly they only seem to be providing instruction as to how to board Overground trains, which is obviously a much more complicated and ...

Re: Online petition to save the Windmill
What we have to accept is that there just isn't a big enough market to sustain a pub on this site. We have already had the Woodman shut which demonstrates that there just isn't the demand. Perhaps with the Windmill closing it might give a boost to and ensure the survival of The Foxes.

I have just been in to RAM's and they categorically deny that they will be closing. Please do not post / start unfounded rumours that could potential damage businesses.
Thank you

Re: Deadline approaching in battle to save The Windmill
I won't miss the Windmill. As someone who has had cause to complain to the police and local counsellors about fighting outside it and who has to put up with loud music and the drunken antics of its customers at chucking out time, I would be pleased to see it close.

What a good do that was. Standing room only. Lovely introduction by Paul Clayton and a fascinating talk on the history of local shops by Steve Grindley. A great community event.

Re: Evading the fares at the station
I often walk through the barrier behind someone (the gate - not the individual barriers) but I am not evading a fare. I am a season ticket holder with a paper ticket and therefore do not need to touch in and touch out. I usually carry my ticket in my hand so it can be inspected at any time but don't ...

Re: Incident at Tesco's on Kirkdale
I got there just after it happened. That is what the people stood outside said. That the kid went crazy, smashing into the door until it broke and he ran off. No one tried to stop him, apparently.

Incident at Tesco's on Kirkdale
Tesco's has had to shut early tonight ( and the police are currently in attendance) after a boy suspected of shoplifiting was locked in the store and then escaped by breaking his way out of the front doors (and making a real mess of them!)
