Tim For what it's worth I totally agree with you that it isn't just political correctness. A ghetto only exists if poeple make assumptions that all people living in one type of housing act exactly the same. I lived on an estate until a year ago, and I didn't experience any problems. Perhaps if there ...

Well I am also a young professional in my twenties, and we bought in Sydenham last summer, having previously bought in another nearby part of South London. Sydenham was the only decent area where I could afford a decent garden flat, and I am not disappointed with our choice of location. I personally ...

Pat Thanks very much for such a detailed response! I recently purchased 2 old maps of the Upper Sydenham area (where I live!) from 1890s and 1914. This is how I discovered the old railway line, and few other interesting facts about the area. I am keen to learn more, and so if you can point me in the ...

Upper Sydenham Station
I was wondering if anyone knows why (and also when) Upper Sydenham Station was closed down? It must have been an expensive stretch to build because of the tunnels, so perhaps it was too costly to maintain. Or was it closed after Crystal Palace burned down?
Thanks in advance for any ideas....

Re: Beltwood

Megan - I totally agree with all your comments. Glad Im not alone! Beltwood - I understand that you are due to receive a visit from the planning department in the next few days (if they haven't been already). I believe the council will also be checking that you have all the correct licenses in place ...

Recycling in Sydenham
I would like to start recycling some of my house-hold waste. I've checked on Lewisham website and it says to visit the recycle centre in New Cross, but I wondered if there's any alternative service, where items are collected from homes. I noticed that Lewisham bin lorries have pictures on the side ...
