I'm struggling to remember from my hazy early 1960's childhood memories. I remember Whitrods, and my Nan getting me sweets from a shop just down from the pub.. Was there a Greengrocers down by Bradford Road somewhere? Oh and a bakery on the opposite side of the road to Whitrods - ISTR they had a 3 ...

Thanks Annie you are quite correct. Of course Forest Hill Boys should also partake in cooking lessons , but we were not talking about that school. My Nan lived in Tynwald House in the early 60s, having moved from Poulton House in Brockley. My sister was a home birth in that flat one bank holiday. I didn't go near the place for many years as we moved out of London, when I did return in the mid 80's I was shocked at how run down it had become ...

Hah! the scammers claiming to be from "Your ISP calling about a virus in your microsoft computer" called a friend of mine a month or so back and caused some stress to her- although she had the sense not to take any notice of them... then a few weeks later... they called here and spoke to my partner ...

Was just looking up St Barts church which made me think of the school... and I tripped over this thread... From my short memory of the school... (I moved away quite young) I note that while Mr Timms, Miss King and Mr Bleasedale feature in peoples recollections I can see no mention of Mrs Redmain ...
