What do the icons mean
Hi all, I am fairly new to the Sydenham Town Forum and I am puzzled by the different icons used in the forum pages; there are red text icons, scrolling red text icons plus same in blue. I notice if you hover the mouse pointer over them it says 'Unread Post' for all of them. Anyone know why they are ...

Re: a New Historical Walk through Sydenham Woods proposed
I'd be very interested in coming along, and am free on all the dates proposed. I used to be a volunteer in the woods and got to know it quite well, so to put a good historical knowledge to it will enhance all my future walks in the woods, and pass on the history to my kids as they grow.

Re: Tudor and Seymour Lodge, Kirkdale history
Has anybody any other details about this part of Kirkdale?
I cannot find much about these two lodges other than what is already in this post.
My house must be in the garden area of one of them but i'm not sure which one.

Baxter Fields Willow???
Does anybody know why the large willow tree in the playground of Baxter Fields was cut down?
Was it diseased with potential danger to the playground?
I ask as my children used to like a picnic under there in the summer; now the playground is left without shade.

Re: Sydenham Station Vandalism
I heard the news early this morning and decided to take the bus to Tottenham Court Road.
Took me 35 mins longer but I had a seat and my audiobook - and no squashing. May do it regularly and save money...

Re: Beachgrove, 111 Sydenham Hill
I went exploring with my daughter in April and came across the very same tunnel type remains.
there was a sleeping bag and a piece of carpet in there then.

Re: Tudor and Seymour Lodge, Kirkdale history
Thanks Robin, I hadn't read that at all, must get a hold of that book. I'm still trying to get down to Kirkdale bookshop and see what is in there, but too busy to even get down the road.
But that helps me out on when they were built. Thanks

Tudor and Seymour Lodge, Kirkdale history
I moved to Hassocks close last year and have been looking into the history of the area, using this forum and historic maps.
I have noticed that two lodges used to be where Hassocks close is now, these were Tudor Lodge and Seymour Lodge. I have seen them on maps dating back to 1860's and up to the ...
