Re: 2am railway engineering works
I back onto the line as it approaches Syd station platform 2. Apologies for being a bit ranty on Tuesday - a lack of sleep can tend to have that effect. I've lived here for over 10 years and generally take no issue with any late night engineering work (although only twice have I received ...

2am railway engineering works
Was anyone else awakened in the wee small hours by extremely loud (and slightly disturbing) noises coming from the railway line? Obviously they were undertaking some sort of engineering work – but really? On a Monday night? I thought they were supposed to give some sort of written notice for this s ...

Re: RECYCLING IN LEWISHAM
This is great news to hear.
I don't think Lewisham make it particularly easy for people either. I noticed that the recycle bins in the Coop car park have been removed. Used to use these regularly when I had too much for our 1 bin between 4 households.

Re: Christmas Trees
Oh, I might be tempted. What are your opening hours (i.e are you open at the weekend?)
Would rather buy locally than the usual Homebase. Not least because I can walk it home rather than cover the car in pine needles
Cheers

Re: Lost black cat in Silverdale FOUND!
Thankfully the little man has been found! A bit skinny, but otherwise ok. I believe he was trapped in the cellar of someone who was away for a while, along with another cat! Although how he got in there I don't know. Anyway, needless to say my neighbour is delighted and relieved (me too). Thank you ...

Lost black cat in Silverdale
My neighbour hasn't seen her cat since yesterday morning. He's an almost totally black cat, muscley and quite large, but extremely friendly. He answers to the name of Lungeus (or Lungey for short). We think that someone may have taken a shine to him, or he's stuck in a shed or garage. He doesn't ...

Re: Dealing with housing associations
Just to say thanks to Paul for your advice. The issue eventually got sorted after I phoned customer relations who could at least track and update me on the situation. It was sorted within 4 days of me speaking to them. Same advice goes to anyone else - if you have an issue with a housing association ...

Re: Dealing with housing associations
Thanks Paul. It's been going on for nearly 2 months now, but I've now had some what I hope is going to be some useful help from Customer Relations. Apparently someone came round to try to fix the issue last week, but didn't let us know in advance (we'd been waiting 4 weeks since their last visit) so ...

Baby shops in Sydders
Quick one (before I have resort to going to Sainsburys) are there any baby clothes/gift shops in or around Sydenham? Never needed them before so haven't really taken any notice.
Thanks

Re: Dealing with housing associations
Thanks for the advice, the general info is actually really useful to know as well. I guess there are bigger issues for them to worry about. Unfortunately the tenants are not interested - they don't use the path at all and so it doesn't bother them. Even if they did, from what I know of them, I don't ...

Re: Dealing with housing associations
Actually, it's L&Q - same that Tim has experience of. That HCA looks very useful, thanks. I'm going to spend some time exploring that. I think you're right Tim - sticking to the facts and keeping a record of all correspondance is key (I've learnt that over the years!) Unfortunately there seems no ...

Dealing with housing associations
Can anyone offer any advice? I live next door to a housing association property (they own the freehold). Our properties are not adjoined, but our side paths run alongside each other. For a while their drain has been leaking/overflowing (not sure which) and it overflows on to my path. The result is a ...

I'm a big fan of cats. I am not a big fan of this. It's truly dreadful.

Street Dance Class
Morning all. I’d just like to give a quick plug for a Street Dance class on a Tuesday evening at 7-8pm at The Bridge Leisure Centre at Lower Sydenham. My reasons are purely selfish (I’m not moonlighting as a sales rep for them), it’s just that if enough people don’t keep going then it may end up fini ...

Re: Post all the news of the Riots here (To make it easy)
Whilst I like the idea, I’m not so sure that the ordinary people going about their everyday business stopped the horrific criminal damage in Clapham, Croydon, Hackney and elsewhere yesterday. The advice from the police et al is that if there are any signs of trouble, you should clear the area to a ...

Re: Post all the news of the Riots here (To make it easy)
I'm working in the City and hearing all sorts of (unsubstantiated) rumours about CP, Sydenham & Penge. If anyone does have any genuine information, please do post it so we can find out what is really happening.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Re: Re Masaniello Italian Restaurant
Hello, it's my first time on here *waves*. I just had to add my twopennies worth about Re Masaniello (and no, I'm not doing some free marketing for them!). We went there for the first time last night (we used to be big fans of the Mexico beforehand). Can honestly say me and my other half both ...
