How utterly degrading to those poor animals. Dogs are intelligent, sentient beings, not toys to dress up like a child's doll. As for the pink track suits, they're more suited to dogs of a different nature.
I suggest the owner needs to grow up.

Re: Parking : What's the answer?
With regards to a creeping death, I'm afraid there already is one. When I can't park on Homecroft Rd, I have to park in the neighbouring roads. In doing so, residents there have to park elsewhere, and so the ripple spreads outward. The situation will only get worse, as the council person I spoke to ...

I'd love to see pictures of Sydenham in the 60's, even sideroads like Homecroft. Ever thought of posting them on-line?

Re: Parking : What's the answer?
I live in Homecroft road, and parking is becoming a real pain. We've always had people who use the station, or shop in the high street, parking here which was fine, it's just that the station is so much busier now, due to the ELL extension, that it's becoming impossible to park. The particular ...

Re: Praying for Sydenham and Forest Hill
It doesn't bode well for the area when the mayor is leading 'Prayers for Lewisham'. What on earth has the council got in mind for us that warrants godly intervention??
Re: GOOD NEWS
and all we have here at the moment is a critical mess.........
Re: GOOD NEWS
As someone who shops in the £1 shops regularly, eats occasionally in the greasy spoons, and buys many of my groceries in the High St, I'd hate for Sydenham to become a Dulwich clone, but I'd also hate to see it slipping further towards Catford levels of grottiness, which it was until lately.

Community pay-back - I guess it could be, it's a satisfying thought.
Re: GOOD NEWS
I hope the station revamp doesn't take as long as it has just to paint the fences. Since last week, there have been six men painting with three to supervise. It's a comical sight - the wage bill must be ridiculous. It's a step in the right direction though.

Re: Lewisham conservation question
By 'really fussy and bureaucratic', do you mean do they actually do their jobs? I can't help you there but looking around the area, it's fair to say probably not. That said, the whole point of a conservation area is to preserve it's design and/or historic integrity for the whole community. Since ...

With umpteen new residents (a la Greyhound) within in stone's throw, you can't blame the owners for trying. That said, I hope they don't get permission. I'll be lodging an objection. I imagine all those living above the gym will, too.

Re: Garden grabbing in SE26
I'm the freeholder of the converted property I live in, and I can't make any changes or repairs to the communal areas without consultation and agreement with the leaseholders. I'd check the terms of your lease concerning the car park. He or she may be in breach, in which case you've got good ammo to ...

Re: Fairlawn Park Stabbing
According to Hyde's website, they make several promises to their tenants, including to:
- Listen and respond quickly when you get in touch.
- Treat reports of antisocial behaviour seriously, sensitively and in confidence - and then help resolve the situation quickly.
I don't know how Hyde operates ...

Unless I'm mistaken, you can only reply to their topics rather than post new ones. The site goes under the banner of 'Our Lewisham, our say' but is clearly our Lewisham, their say.

A plank? Surely it needs a tad pole to climb.
Mind you, wouldn't some netting stop them getting in there in the first place. Just a thought.

I enquired at the council about a year ago for a free composter, and was told they only offered discounts, not free ones. Freebies now? I reckon you'd be lucky with all the cuts in the pipeline.
Good luck though.
