We saw the opening 2 events at the Sydenham Centre and they were just great!
There's plenty more going on in this year's festival and the artists' trail starts today. Have a look at the website!

Has your Renault Espace been stolen?
An ivory-coloured Renault Espace has been parked on our road in Upper Sydenham for around a couple of months. Apart from a couple of flat tyres it looks in pretty good condition, and since it has a child's seat as well as a number of other personal items in it, it doesn't look as though the owner ...

Re: Royal Mail deliveries on Kirkdale
We have now e-mailed Moya Greene, the Chief Executive of Royal Mail with our complaint, and have sent a copy to Jim Dowd.

Re: Royal Mail deliveries on Kirkdale
No offence taken, but if there is a reason why someone who asks how to complain then says it is pointless when given the information, it completely escapes me! Complaining to Royal Mail itself is the necessary first step. If you are dissatisfied with their response you can take it to the next stage ...

Re: Royal Mail deliveries on Kirkdale
We have had similar problems on Mount Ash Road. We had a delivery on Wednesday 23/11 or Thursday 24/11 - not sure which - and nothng for the rest of the week. We then had 23 items delivered on Monday 28/11 - that's 23 items to one house, not the whole of the street - nothing on the Tuesday, 13 items ...

Re: Any Calais drop off points locally?
Libraries run by Lewisham are now accepting donations - see the report from the News Shopper: http://www.thisislocallondon.co.uk/news/local_news/13652665.Refugee_crisis__Lewisham_rallies_to_help_as_council_prepares_to_take_in_families/ This may not include Sydenham library but we dropped some stuff ...

Re: Any Calais drop off points locally?
The Lewisham and Penge West Constituency Labour Party have sent out this message: "Lewisham for refugees", a group of local activists and Councillors are driving a van to Calais on 3rd or 4th October with donations of supplies for refugees in Calais. If you can help then Lewisham and Penge West CLP ...
Re: Shutters
Try Shearwater Shutters - they provide an excellent service.

Recycling printer cartridges Sydenham/FH
Does anyone know where I can recycle printer cartridges locally? Lewisham Council's recycling page says this can be done at Sydenham Library, but when I took some used cartridges to the library they said they don't do it there. Thanks.

Face painter needed on Sunday 23rd
We are holding a street party in Sydenham and we are looking for a face painter as the one we had booked pulled out last night. We are looking for someone for 2 to 3 hours on the afternoon of Sunday 23rd to replace her.
Does anyone know of a face painter locally they could recommend?
Thanks.

Central heating servicing Sydenham area
We are thinking of having our central heating, particularly our boiler, serviced before the onset of winter. Can anyone recommend a decent and reasonably-priced firm in the area?
Thanks.
Thanks.

There was/is a notice on the door saying that the baker is unwell and that their "supply baker" was unavailable. They are due to open again on Tuesday.
I was disappointed too!

Can anyone lend us a pop-up marquee/pergola?
We (a street in Upper Sydenham - I'll say no more at this stage) are having a street party this coming Sunday (the 24th) and we're getting a bit concerned about the weather forecast! We've tried to obtain a pop-up marquee/pergola, call it what you will - something to keep the rain out - with no ...

Support your local French bakery!
We went into the French bakery on Kirkdale a couple of times last week and the owner seemed a bit despondent. He has had to increase prices because of a rise in the cost of raw materials and is not optimistic about the future of the business. Please support this great bakery - we even bought a loaf ...

No water - Mount Ash Road
We have had no water since about 1 this afternoon (Wednesday). We left our number with Thames Water at about 2, but they haven't phoned back as they promised they would (within the hour, the automated message said). We've just got back from watching, rather inappropriately, 'The Deep Blue Sea', and ...

Francis Rossi on Radio 4 'Saturday Live'
Francis Rossi from Status Quo was on 'Saturday Live' on Radio 4 today reminiscing about his days at Our Lady and St. Philip Neri School. The odd thing is that he referred to it as being in Forest Hill, rather than Sydenham - perhaps he lived in FH and crossed the border every day to get to school ...

There is a notice on the window of the French bakery in Kirkdale to the effect that they will be open as usual tomorrow (Thursday) morning.
Great news!
