I felt the same when I first saw it, but now I understand. It’s got decorations! And decent lights! Which is probably why it’s smaller. I think it’s about the same size as the Forest Hill tree.Sydenham Syd wrote: 22 Nov 2021 16:41 …is pretty budget. I think this year’s is about half the usual size.

Re: Covid Vaccine - Third Booster Jab
I've booked my booster but Sydenham Green (Where I had my first two jabs) was not an option (I'm also with Wells Park). So it's at Our Lady & St Philip Neris school instead on a Saturday.
Last time round, where you were offered depended on how you booked. Sydenham Green was never an option on ...

Re: Covid Vaccine - Third Booster Jab
WRT flu jabs, you can book online at Boots (If you're OK with paying for the flu jab).
First appointments with Boots for free over 50s shots are late November. Online they aren't showing any appointments for under 50s locally (I checked as far as Bromley). Both me (in my 50s, free) and our ...

What counts as the ‘younger’ flu jab?
I got mine as a walk-in at Touchwood (opposite the Greyhound) on Thursday after Lloyds in the Bell Green Sainsburys screwed up my appointment twice. I’m 53.

The Cake Store is still operating as an occasion cake supplier, with orders taken online and shipped nationwide. So I assume they are still using everything bar the shop front.

OH and I are getting ours on Saturday at the Lloyds Pharmacy in Sainsburys. Booked online. They had a plethora of appointments available from Friday onwards.

You can also deflate them and recycle with plastic bags at larger supermarkets.

Re: Covid-19 Failure
My son went to a Spoons on Thursday to mark A-level results day. He left almost immediately and came home. It was packed, with a queue out the door. Even a 19 year-old hoping for a well-deserved night out with his mates could see it was a shit show and not worth the risk.
Re: Masks
We're not going out that much but when we do we're putting our masks on when we're out on the high street and also inside shops. Taking them off when we get to to Mayow Park, seems silly given the amount of space between everyone.
Be careful how you use the mask - you shouldn’t take it off ...
Re: Masks
If you are buying masks, please have a look on Etsy. There are a lot of home sewers diverting their small businesses from making other textiles to producing masks. Worth supporting, IMO. I have bought several cotton and linen masks from different sellers on Etsy and they’ve all been great. Have at ...

UK Power Networks are reporting a cable fault affecting some SE26 postcodes earlier in the evening and restored power shortly after the time of our blip (we had the same brief outage on Mayow Road). Maybe someone flipped the wrong switch.

Re: Power Issues at Bell Green Retail Park
The question, it seems to me, is who is at fault if the retail park cannot provide sufficient and reliable power supply to Aldi? Were Aldi in full possession of all the facts when they took on the unit and knew they were have to use back-up generators? I can't imagine they ever wanted to have to ...

Re: Power Issues at Bell Green Retail Park
This masks the real issue with our Bell Green supermarkets. Both Aldi & SavaCentre are chilly. Made chilly by rows and rows of chilling cabinets presumably being counteracted by heating to stop us customers and staff being reduced to the same temperature. This 24/7/366. An appalling drain on any ...

Re: Power Issues at Bell Green Retail Park
I was in Sainsbury’s in December when the power went out and we were all shepherded out.
We live very close to Bell Green and have had some odd flickerings in the last past month, and a complete outage for about 2 minutes a few weeks ago.

Couldn’t agree more. It’s amazing what a simple change can achieve. Congrats to everyone involved in achieving this. A small group of us tried to get some momentum behind getting new lights when the road was being refurbished but ran out of steam before we achieved anything.
