Re: Sockpuppets on t'other forum
I've just had an email telling me that I've been banned for 12 months from that other place for slander against another member. So he's clearly still active, and doing what he does. I don't know why I'm bothered, I moved out of the area 18 months ago,but then again CB left the area a lot longer ago.

Re: Better to order direct from local takeways...
I always order Chinese from my local take away, which is 60 seconds down the road (30 seconds further than the pub), and I ring them up beforehand to place my order for a specific time, long enough away to let me drink a pint on the way.

Sydenham Book Group
Are you interested in joining a local book group that doesn’t take itself too seriously?
If so we’re looking for new members. We meet once a month on the last Wednesday, and discuss the book for that month. We then make a choice of book to read and discuss in two months time. We take it in turns to ...

The Forest Hill Mural - if I'm not mistaken, was on the bridge under the railway, yes?
that road is the south circular, and is TfL road, so road owner - TfL, Bridge owner - Network Rail - therefore actually nothing to do with Lewisham at all, at the end of the day, they had little ability to say no.

Re: Dentist
we used to use Parry Vale Dental, no complaints from any of us. nice and friendly.
Re: Dodgy CD?
I've looked at other CDs, and the one thing in common is that they all usually have quite a bit of text on them, copyright stuff, and the name of the album, etc. so I'm leaning towards this being a moody copy.
Dodgy CD?
I have a question for anyone who knows anything about CDs?
(and/or Alanis Morissette)
I found a CD under a floorboard. it plays fine. on the coloured side is a nice image of what could be flames or hair, orange/red on a blue background, with white lettering 522. nothing else text wise on that side ...

I have just logged out of both dot life fora, and deleted my bookmark/shortcuts - I'm just not that happy with the way he goes about stuff.
his loss, not mine.
STF - is where I'll find the information I need on this locality as and when I need to.

Re: Mayow road/Sydenham road crossing.
I think the rules are fairly clear.
if there is a central island it counts as two crossings. If it's staggered it counts as two crossings.

Re: Been to The Greyhound yet?
I'm only guessing here, but the waiter in question probably didn't realise that he couldn't pronounce the wine name, and maybe didn't realise he was being overly familiar, and probably wasn't embarrased about it.

Re: Should Mayo Road have controlled parking?
anyone operating a business on the public highway needs to have a licence to do so.
so for instance a cafe that has seats outside, needs a licence, and if the licence is granted then they can do that.
I would find it hard to imagine that Lewisham Council would have granted a licence for someone to ...

Re: Should Mayo Road have controlled parking?
In an ideal world, all roads should be patrolled by parking enforcement officers, who should ticket illegally parked vehicles (double yellow parking, etc) . But what is normally the case is that only CPZs are patrolled, as they are greatest revenue producers.

I have left Sydenham
After 8 ish years in Sydenham, we have moved out of the area, to Norwich. We were lucky that we bought our house before the Overground reopened, so our house value increased by a lot in 7 years. In Norwich we've got more house for less money.

a bump to this thread as we've had a few people leave, so if anyone wants to join a friendly local book group please do turn up.
we meet once a month on the last Wednesday, from 7.30pm in The Golden Lion. This month (next week in fact) we will be discussing 'How To measure a Cow' by Margaret Forster.

Re: How Cobbs Corner is changing
both the golden lion and the dolphin have outdoor seating front and back now, so the only reason to sit outside on the road side would be if you wanted, or didn't want, the sun, depending on time of day.
most people wouldn't want to sit next to the main road though.
