Not quite Sydenham, but there is live music at the Hob in Forest Hill most Fridays and I believe at the Foresters Arms on a Sunday. More music please - doesn't it soothe the savage breast, or should that be beast!!

I wish you luck with promoting this. When I mentioned how good the art was at Sugahill I received a few sarcastic comments from the regulars. They thought it was the owner of the cafe trying to drum up trade!! Dare I say it may be because I was a woman and new to the site. I'm keeping a rather low ...

Me and my significant other frequented DWH for many years. Before the refurb the food was dire and most people complained about the chef. We were told that over £250,000 had been spent on the refurbishment which resulted in our beloved top bar being turned into a restaurant. Bizarrely, after ...

The posh girls' school Ulysses, Sydenham High I believe. Don't think the school on Dartmouth Road would quite fit the bill!

Oh you naughty person Ulysses! Yes indeed, it’s your mucky mind!

I shall be absolutely delighted if gentrification happens for Sydenham – perhaps this is where estate agents come into their own! Give the area the big sell. Victorian houses are what are loved by the trendies and I’m sure ...

Well Ulysses I don’t go to Bell Green very often only to visit the Savercentre occasionally. I usually walk down the High Street to get there and sadly it does look a bit run down as you near the lower end. I too am particular about the meat I buy, so will know instantly if it’s my kinda place. I ...

The shop I think will look ok because the beautiful old tiling is being kept and if the product is good, then I’m sure he’ll do ok. Don’t know why he didn’t choose Sydenham – might be worth asking! He is in competition with Sainsbury’s too as they are opening a store opposite on the 18th.

Butchers Shop

For anyone who’s interested, the butcher who used to work at the shop near Bell Green, which closed about a year ago, is opening a shop at the Plough near Dulwich Library. The shop is just along from the DIY shop and was a butchers shop many years ago. I think he is due to open any day, but when I ...

He sounds as if he may have mental problems and therefore could be unpredictable. I think you should report the incident to the police, you may find that he is already known to them. If you report the incident it will be logged. Other people may have done the same even the elderly couple themselves ...

Some people seem to be missing the point. This is quoted from a recent article:
The Government is determined to help ensure town centres remain vibrant places for people to meet and shop. John Denham is today providing £3m to help 57 of the hardest hit areas find creative ways to use their empty ...

I remember vaguely hearing about this some time ago that empty shop units were being let (as I thought) for learning and creative purposes on a temporary basis. I tried to find out more and contacted Lewisham Council to see if they could enlighten me. I didn’t know enough about the proposal so ...

I'm off to the country tomorrow, so may try to pick up a tree on the way, but that depends on my hubbie who's driving. It looks like Sydenham may be selling them a bit cheaper than East Dulwich - I was quoted £30 upwards, so guess £30 is for the smallest, but that's ED for you!! A bit too trendy for ...

I'm a newbie and didn't understand what was happening when I posted my thread on Sugahill. A string of sarcastic remarks came flooding back from a certain group. Sugahill Cafe

This is such a nice little cafe at Cobbs Corner and the sandwiches and paninis are delicious - there is such a variety too. It's also an art gallery where local artists put work up for sale. There's some nice stuff in there at the moment - it's worth a browse over a cup of coffee.
