Although the Dolphin was not the pub closest to my residence, it was the one I chose to use as my local back in the early 1970s because it was more central for use by my particular circle of friends.

I moved away from Sydenham in 1977 - so I'm glad to hear that the old place is getting a new lease ...

I seem to remember that the local Angels used to hang out at the upstairs coffee bar at the St Michaels Church Hall/Youth Centre down at Bell Green. They used to regularly 'rumble' with the rival chapter whose haunt was the Salt Box cafe at Biggin Hill.

I always knew the place as Peter Pan's Pool.

I used to be taken there in the late 50s/early 60s. As we lived in Lower Sydenham it was not too much of a walk cutting through the Southend estates.
