Not sure when this was taken but many moons ago. Looks like a horse and cart on right side of road. I lived at this top end on right side of road my Great Aunt lived at the first house you can see on left.

Looking at the map here was very interesting to see that Holmshaw Road stopped at Kirtley the top half not yet made into a road. Wonder when they lengthened the road?

Hi I was born in Holmshaw Road in 1953 and lived there right up until the houses were pulled down about 1974-1975. If I remember rightly Gladys Watling lived next door to Shepherds the off licence. Shepherds was in the middle of Holmshaw on the corner of the crossroads with Kirtly Road. She was a ...

Remember Grieves bakery corner Kirtley Rd. On other corner there was about 3 shops was it owned by co-op. It was a butchers, food store and I think hardware, further to that was the hospital. Going back to the bend opposite the Bell pub was a pet shop. Post office in Holmshaw Road and also an Off ...
