Re: How's the commute?

I gave up on the london bridge route when they binned the fast train in the morning.

Now go the other way to Victoria and always get a seat, although the train is almost always late arriving at victoria. Have noticed that train getting busier and busier as people realise there are direct trains ...

Re: waitrose looking for location

Sydenham may well be on the way up, but there's still no realistic chance of Waitrose setting up on the highstreet, in the near future at least.

Crystal Palace would be a more realistic candidate.

And did I mention that if you touch in and then touch out at the same station (e.g. because your train is cancelled and it's quicker to go home another way), you end up being charged a maximum fare because the Oyster system is confused?

I've encountered this issue too. The chap at London Bridge ...

Point to point seasons are valid on LOROL services in the circumstance you describe. It should be noted, however, that point to point seasons to/from London Terminals are NOT valid north of New Cross/New Cross Gate.

Just to let you know that if you use your London Terminals season to New Cross ...

Yes the ELL trains are all well and good - the aircon is really appreciated at the moment and its fantastic if you now have the option of using the jubilee line at canada water.

The downside is that, based on tonight's journey home from london bridge, having only 1 train every 15 mins during the ...

I went through there yesterday and I can also confirm it's zone 1 regardless of whether you alight there or not.

Apparently Shoreditch High Street was added by TFL to Zone 1 for purely commercial reasons.

I don't know why they don't just make all times peak. It's obvious that's what they want. So much for trying to encourage people to use public transport

The only positive thing i can see from this is the Victoria service starting at 6.35am.

Don't fancy trying to get back from London Bridge anytime from 5-7pm, going to be chaos.

Getting back(ish) to the original subject, here's something that was bugging me this evening. Coming back from Charing Cross, and knowing that I was going to miss the Crystal Palace loop train, I wondered what would happen if I chose to pick the train up at Clapham Junction? So I'd go Charing X ...

It is important.

I wouldn't want to be rushing for a train at Sydenham and miss it because I had to get someone to open the barriers for me (I go in from Peak Hill side).

It's also not a saving of 20% if the lack of flexibility means you pay more for tube travel.

Oh, and since the loop trains ...

I thought that the drawback with the Victoria<>LB thing was that technically you could only use loop line trains? Or am I mistaken?

I think that's debatable....it depends on the interpretation of the conditions of carriage... I wouldn't swear as to whether it was valid, or not, on the non loop ...

Bensonby - does that ticket work in the barriers now?

It's also worth remembering that that ticket cannot be used into Charring Cross like a London Terminals ticket. I find that useful at weekends and saves on Tube travel.

Ah - no good for me then as I commute into Waterloo East each day and ...

What about at the side where the metal gate is? Can the wall there not be opened up and a shelter similar to the one on the up platform be installed to accomodate some extra oyster gates.

This would be the logical solution but I bet nothing will happen on this front as it will cost money which ...

when oyster is introduced I'll still have to get them to open the gate for me... The barriers will still be an inadequatw bottleneck.

My ticket doesn't open the gates as they're not programmed to accept my ticket despite it being valid on the right trains - i got the victoria -lon bridge season ...

Southern are ..... The sooner people realise that these people don't want to reason with you, the sooner Sydenhams blood pressure will ease.

Thanks,

loop line to clapham junction

Do trains runs via crystal palace to clapham junction in the early morning (7-8am ish)?

I'm going to have to start commuting to hampshire and would like to know if there's a direct train to Clapham junction? Or willl I have to walk to crystal palace? or change trains again.

Thanks

Bob
