Re: Worst local transport journeys?

My journey is so hellish, I work from home most days. I get the London Bridge - Victoria Southern train and then switch at Clapham Junction to finish my journey west. Sounds like a dream. It isn't, it's Southern. If that Victoria train is cancelled or is running fast through Sydenham, I have to ...

Re: Worst local transport journeys?

The change into Jubilee line at rush hour. It is mad that only one escalator is in use for going down. There are two, but not a lot of people know about the second and crowd into the main one. I will share my secret route because not a lot people use this forum so it won't make much of difference ...

Re: Sainsbury's Bell Green

I was at the BG Sainsbury's last night, at 6pm, after work to do a decent shop. The fresh produce section was almost barren. Since I couldn't get all the ingredients I needed to cook dinner, I decided to get a pizza from the deli instead. There was only a few expensive Taste the Difference pizzas ...

Re: Begging outside Sainsbury's local

You take your life in your hands when you travel by public transport nowadays. Sphericals. Check the facts. It is one of the safest ways to travel ... why try and distort reality? Stuart and yet I have, personally, been attacked more than once on those trains and I know numerous other people who ...

Re: sticky:RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM

Would be great to see the empty sports shop opposite filled with a bar/ cafe/ restaurant. Does anyone know anything about this site? That would be awesome! It's great having this restaurant/bar area right next to the station. My non-SE London friends are finally asking to come to me for a night out ...

Re: sticky:RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM

Tried to go to Nando’s tonight, waiting time way to long . An hour once you have your table! That’s not service. If they can’t even sort that out. I understand a long wait for a table but once you are sat down I expect to be served with good time. Day 1 with a new team... Give them a chance. Exac ...

Re: Begging outside Sainsbury's local

Begging and homelessness are two entirely separate issues. Today I was approached by a healthy young man, in Sainsbury's car park, who asked for money. Naturally I refused while resisting the temptation to ask why such a healthy looking well spoke young man did not find a job. (Sainsbury's are ...

Re: High Street Wishlist

Coming out of hiding to comment on this: I would like: 1. A Wholefoods style supermarket, an alternative to what we already have. Not M&S (which I can visit anywhere in London), not Waitrose (which I will never use, I'm too common) and not Tesco  2. A micro-brewery pub that also does beers ...

Re: TRAINS THIS WEEKEND - WOOHOO!

All this weekend "engineering work" has resulted in me not using Sydenham station anymore. I work most weekends and needed an alternative route to work. Did some research and discovered that walking to Penge East and getting the train to Victoria (then on to the dreaded Underground to work) was ...

However, faulty aircon systems in what seems a batch of trains with no windows (I gather it wasn't just my train where the aircon failed) is not so good... I will give you that one. I was speaking to an elderly couple yesterday who had the misfortune of catching one of these faultly trains. They ...

Did we not have these exact same kind of problems when it was just the Southern service? Delays during peaks hours (last night's delay wasn't the fault of any train company), sweltering trains ... etc etc I was fortunate enough to get a ELL train at Syders (from CP) during the delays. The train ...

Thanks both. I did consider to start phoning the police but I didn't want to be deemed the nuisance. It sounds like a burglar alarm. I thought one of the other neighbours would have taken action by now because it is cleary audible as you come up the street. But as alib said, no-one takes any notice ...

Noisey Neighbours

Hi All I've got a problem with my neighbours whereby they have this alarm which goes off all day about twice a week. I work from home most of the week and it's extremely hard to concentrate or take a phone call when there is an alarm "screaming" in the background. I've started to take a diary of ...

As with anything someone is bound to lose out. You can't please everyone. It is a shame that the LBG service has been reduced because some people, including myself, moved to SE London because of the ease of travelling to work. However this new Overground service now suits me better because my ...

Sorry I misunderstood

But I still stick with my suggestion of walking from CC to Waterloo to avoid that hassle. It's only 10 mins which is probably the time it would take to get the train to WE then walk through to Waterloo Main. :D

alywin - either you've been unlucky or I've been lucky. I've had an unusually busy social life over the past fortnight so have been travelling from London Bridge in the evenings (7pm - 10pm). I have always been able to get a seat and the carriage is never that full. Plus it's usually a 8 coach train ...

In all the years that I have been playing music I have never had one complaint because I try to be considerate, I never play amplified during practice sessions and when I plug in it's never later than 9:00PM. Your neighbours might think you're a fanastic guitarist and wait in anticipation for you ...

Eagle, thank you for your support. I was gearing up for an attack from the regulars. I don't know what I did to provoke such an attack and I would like to think that Ulysses won't have done so if they knew my circumstances. I understand that they may be passionate about the area they live in but if ...
