Re: Post all the news of the Riots here (To make it easy)
I've been glued to the window for the past 24 hours and can categorically confirm there has been nothing happening at the business centre above LA fitness. In fact, I've seen nothing of interest out the window at all. Where did you get the idea it's being burgled, NorthernIrelandSydenham? [ Post ...

There is a beautiful and friendly self catering apartment on Border Road my parents stayed at. Highly recommend!

Re: Re Masaniello Italian Restaurant
Hmm, have to disagree. We went there on a Sunday night when we had gone to Tratt Raff, forgetting he is closed on Sundays. Nice atmosphere, better than the old Mexican, but awful food. The ingredients were poor quality, although the crust was okay. The sausage was cheap and greasy and made me feel a ...

Re: Zanzibar Club Kirkdale
Watching that club kick out at 4am has become my weekend nighttime entertainment while feeding our newborn. Last night I watched two young boys fist fighting for ten minutes while a security guard watched, eating his box of chips. Only once he'd finished his chips did he intervene. There was also a ...

Re: Billings Fishmonger and NOW BUTCHER!
We bought some steak yesterday and had steak frites for dinner. Crikey was it good. We've been living as part time vegetarians because it's impossible to find decent meat around here, but not anymore!!!

Does anyone know if you can buy tickets at the door? I really want to go, but it's the night before my baby is due (!!) so I'm obviously not sure if I'll be able to actually go or not

I also love PFC. I could browse in the spice aisle for ages. I can find specialist ingredients in there that I used to have to trawl around London to find. And you can't beat the amount of lemons you get for £1!

Re: Another estate agent
I saw this the other day, and it just drives me mad. We have WAY too many estate agents! Surely it could have been something nice and useful that would actually make people WANT to live in Sydenham, so the other estate agents had people to sell to?

Re: CarJacking - A message from the police
What a horrible story - I'm so sorry to hear that! There are some awful people out there.... certainly not helped by the scams by insurance companies that do nothing to help us when we need them. It sounds like the same people are hijacking the same way on the same road - I wish there was MORE cctv ...

Re: Can you tell me.....
Have to agree with DigitalFX. The two days after our house was burgled, we found our computer on gumtree, being sold only a few streets away. The police led us on for days, telling us they were going to "look into it". After a week of us phoning the police every day, they finally admitted that they ...

Re: How do you Sydenhammers enjoy yourself
I'll take the plunge and give the first serious reply! Dolphin and Tratt Raff are the places to see and be seen in Sydenham. Blue Mountain is also okay on a weeknight as they now serve wine until 8pm. Golden Lion can be fun on blues night. You can also get the 176 bus up to Dulwich for a bit of an ...

Re: Have you bought your fish this week?
I bought some coley today from Billing's. We're having Baja fish tacos for our dinner. Mmm! Yes, does seem quiet in there though. We complain and complain that there aren't enough businesses like this in Sydenham, then we don't use them! I contemplated putting a little note in the fish section at Co ...

Re: WHAT IF no 13: BILLINGS Fishmongers & butchers
We bought some coley to make fish fingers a few nights ago - they were delicious! Tonight I stopped by on the way home and picked up some swordfish steaks. They gave me a great suggestion to make a sauce of garlic/black olives/capers, grill it with olive oil, and serve on a cherry tomato salad ...

Re: Mexican, Spanish, Now Rafaelo's (sp)...
Word on the street is that there was a large group of out-of-area women meeting up at Trattoria Raffaele a few weeks ago for lunch. When the local woman arrived (a bit late), the others were all waiting outside the green canopy of Raffaelo's. Luckily it was closed, or they probably all would have ...

It's not the look of it that I think will confuse people..... it's the name. Imagine if someone had read rave reviews of Tratt Raff here on the forums, and then ventured down that end of the high street for the first time to find it! You'd see the awful green awning way before the subtle red one ...

Does anyone else think they are taking the p!$$ a bit with their name? Rafaello? Way too close to Trattoria Raffaele for me. It makes me think that they are trying to capture any passing trade looking for the highly recommended Tratt Raff, and walking into the wrong place. I don't have high hopes ...

Robbery on Highclere Street
Whilst I'm sure the relevant people are not on this forum, I thought it was worth a try appealing to any decency that they may have. Keep all of the things you have stolen I really don't care about the items. But the computers (an iMac and a powerbook) that you stole contain all of the photos ...

I'm all for spending more money on groceries for better quality and organic.... but that Franklin's place in East Dulwich really does take the p!$$. Whenever we're in Dulwich, we go in there to have a laugh at the prices. Who pays that kind of money!?! Sometimes we even try to reenact the Harry and ...
