It was just as bad for ELL passengers today. A lineside fire at Norwood Junction affected both sets of trains during the evening peak. Did we not have these exact same kind of problems when it was just the Southern service? So maybe the East London Line, and London Overground, the miracle cure for ...

Yes - there will be no through trains to Sutton. But there will be four (ELL) trains per hour to W Croydon and 1 (Southern) train per hour to E Croydon. There are regular services from both EC and WC to Sutton. What are your sources for this future timetable information? Nobody at work can confirm ...

I have to be sympathetic, because I spout the same story when people attack Southern! Front line staff cop it because of management decision, happens in all sorts of service companies. I do feel that Royal Mail is in the mess it is in now because it's stuck in a downward spiral. Because mail gets ...

All I could find was a "complaints form" on the website, a web based thing that will leave nothing in your email "sent items" as proof that you ever contacted them. I typed out my complaint letter in Word, then copied and pasted into their website form, so at least I had a copy of what I sent. Not ...

I'll be sure to let you all know if I discover something similar again. The problem I have is that I and my colleagues have little to do with ticketing where we work - I only found the offer by chance whilst browsing the Southern website in a quiet spell - and of course we have little to do with ...

Rail privatisation

yeah, look how great the railways are now they are privatised. The privatised rail network has many faults, but customer service is not one of them. How many help points and customer information screens did you see at all but the busiest stations before privatisation? Platform staff popped out of ...

I'm gonna copy and paste bits of this thread onto a new one. Rail privatisation deserves its own thread so that this one can get back to being about the post office :)

Southern Services Fri 07/08 from 0915

A signalling problem between Sydenham and Crystal Palace will result in delays and cancellations to services this morning, particularly the services to Victoria.

Barty, why do you assume that privatising the service will make it better? Because companies other than Royal Mail will get involved in delivering post. Because these companies will know that in a competitive market, if they fail to perform to the required standard, they could ultimately lose the ...

Great attitude......let's go on strike, build up a big pile of undelivered post in the sorting office, and then get paid overtime to deliver it all.

PRIVATISE, PRIVATISE, PRIVATISE.

Ahhhh, a server change! Now you're talking my language, Admin! We have those at Southern from time to time. It causes all train information screens at all Southern stations to go blank for about ten mins, and causes blind panic amongst station staff all over Southern, who either run away and hide ...

75 bus diversion

I remembered spotting a Croydon-bound 75 turning left rather than right out of Mayow Road the other day. Today I had to go into Penge - since Croydon-bound 75's were obviously not coming up the high street and going down Newlands Park I set off down towards the Merc van garage on the corner of Mayow ...

I have had problems logging on a few times recently.

But my absence lately is more down to an addiction to a MMORPG called Travian and due to Southern making me look a tit than anything else.

Although the chance to slag off the Post Office was the perfect way to bring me out of my shell.... :D
