Re: How do you Sydenhammers enjoy yourself

Hi Bertie

Not sure if you're interested in either BRIDGE or SALSA DANCING (or both?), but the Tudor Livesey Memorial Hall (known as "The Livesey") runs these clubs/classes just a short walk from Sydenham High Street towards the Sainsburys Savacentre (or in that direction). Contact the Livesey for ...

Re: Lower Sydenham - buying a property

Hi Trini

Oops, I re-read the thread and realised that "Newbie's" request for info, as you highlighted, was old so apologies for mis reading. However, my recent post and comments on living in the area and walking to the stations are indeed current! :D

Re: Lower Sydenham - buying a property

Hi newbie

I have lived in Lower Sydenham for a little while now and like it here. I do tend to use Sydenham station as I prefer to walk passed all the shops, and popping into the coop on my way home. I love the sense of community around here and am lucky to have fab neighbours. It's particularly ...

Re: Sydenham Arts Festival

I'd like to say a BIG MASSIVE THANK YOU to all of those kind people around Sydenham who opened up their homes to display the wonderful range of art in Sydenham over the last 2 weekends as part of the Arts Trail. It was a delightful way to see the arts, paintings, sculptures, pottery and jewellery ...

Re: Sydenham Community Radio on 106.8 FM

lbere - there's a meeting about the closure of Sydenham Library on Thursday 19th August at the Libaray (I think it's at 7pm?) - the more supporters that turn up for the library the better. Hope to see you there.

Re: Neo Uno Bar and Grill

I've eaten at Neo Uno to try it out. Despite the quiet, minimalist setting/atmosphere, I was fairly surprised to find that the food was very good value and tasty, well cooked, generous portions and well presented (was particularly appreciative of the large salad portions). Friendly service. Smart ...

Re: HOME PARK FUN DAY & FILM SCREENING, 12th August

I agree it's a little late for little ones but as it's the school holidays at that time, hopefully parents with young children will allow them to stay up for this event and watch the outdoor movie spectacle.

Re: HOME PARK FUN DAY & FILM SCREENING, 12th August

Hi lbere

I can't comment as to whether this film is too "young" a movie for teens but......

Apparently, the film screening company gave a limited choice of films for the film show. By a process of elimination "Fantastic Mr Fox" won. I heard that the "Friends of" group had tried to get "Street ...

Re: Fishmonger then Butchers to open on Sydenham Road...

Yes I agree the previous cobbler was lovely (Hassan) but Errol has opened up as the new cobbler on the high street (oops Sydenham Road) and also offers a fab and friendly service (his shop is the one that used to be a cafe).

Having a fresh fish shop on the high street would be so welcome in my book ...

I would prefer "The Sydenham Centre" - memorable, apt and to the point. I feel any other name would end up locally being called "The Sydenham Centre" anyway. That has my vote, Chris.

Does Julie Sutch exist - is she a real living person/official who works for lewisham as I have read posts about her role several times and it seems that no-one has caught sight of her or received responses from her - strange??

I think the re-vamp works throughout the high street will eventually ...

I agree with you all. I would definitely sign a petition if one were made available. We really do need more direct trains from Sydenham to Charing Cross. Sydenham's got a great service to London Bridge but it would save so much commuting time if this service would extend more frequently to Charing ...

Hurrah! That can only be good news. In the meantime the empty space could have been used for a venue for the amazing "Visual arts Trail" if it didn't take too long to approve and set up. I'm hopeful that other businesses will express an interest in opening up here.
