Re: Phone stolen in the Dolphin

Ah Katie - I too am really very sorry to hear about this incident but I must say I am not surprised by the poor, indifferent treatment you received from Dolphin staff. I agree with the posts which suggest that if the staff tried to help with getting a description of the scoundrels may have been ...

Re: 140 INTERIORS OPENING 5TH MARCH

A welcome addition to the high street! I missed the opening on saturday but the shop looks smart and eye catching from the outside as do the items of furniture inside. Will definitely pay a visit. Good luck and wishing 140 every success! :D

Re: Greyhound to be run by owners of East Dulwich Tavern, et

Having a rival gastro bar to the Dolphin would be great news! Lets hope the staff at this new bar at the Greyhound site are properly trained and actually enjoy their jobs in the hospitality industry and working with people (which is more than I can say for the Dolphin staff - totally dire customer ...

Re: Local groups for lively 8 month old

There's singing nursery rhymes and poetry at Sydenham Library on TUESDAY mornings (not sure what times, think it's 10-12noon). The Librarian Raff plays the guitar and sings. I've seen lots of mums and dads with their little ones toddle out all smiling afterwards. worth trying it out while the ...

Re: Blocking off Queensthorpe Road

"I understand that the council are going ahead with the plan to block off Queensthorpe Road from Sydenham Road as part of the high street improvement scheme. I'm concerned that the pocket square created will become a magnet for the street drinkers and drug dealers that are already in the area". I ...

Re: HOME PARK FUN DAY & FILM SCREENING, 12th August

There will be activities the whole day at the Family Fun Day starting from 2pm.

So it will be ideal for families to join in the activities, enjoy the day events and then perhaps come back later on for the film. Will be lovely - fingers crossed for some sun that day :D

Re: Free compost Bin and Water Butt

HI lbere - you can try contacting Lewisham council, best would be to look up the Lewisham website for their environmental services and to email them with your request. The bins were free at one stage but I'm not sure if they still are. Good luck.

Re: Sydenham Smells Lovely

OK - Pip, aside from the smell of sewage outside the Kebab shop, Sydders smells just gorgeous! Would be great to have more lavender planted (might help soothe drivers rage when caught up in the endless road works on the high street). Perhaps an idea for a guerilla lavender planting day?

Quote Juwlz:"My theory is its the blossoms on the lime trees, there are a lot of them near the station and up Westwood Hill". If we can attribute the gorgeous scent around the high street to the blossoms on the lime trees, what a thought to plant these trees further down the high street? Can anyone ...

That's disappointing. From what Lee says it seems like we could make some significant positive changes to Sydenham Road with a relatively small financial commitment. I agree with Lee that the reference on your website to "the provision of shop front improvement grants" should be removed, or ...

Ooh would love a decent quality shoe shop on the high street - although I tend to travel to Bromley or Croydon for shoes and clothes. Still it would be nice to see the old bank opening as a shop that fills a gap on the high street.

Leenewham - it might help you to remember the Prince Alfred by association - I always remember it's the Alfred (rather than the Albert)after the cricket player Freddie Flintoff or Fred Flintstone or the very nasty Fred the Dread (I could go on and on)......there you go, does that help?
