We've always found Sydenham cars great. Only bad experience wasn't their fault, there was a big accident and we were being picked up from Heathrow. The driver called us every 10mins to keep us updated and tried his hardest to get to us. He eventually did and got us home.

Re: Lidl beer
Hogs back are a good brewer. Good standard English ales in my opinion. Lidl also do a couple of excellent Belgian ales. A wit (refreshing wheat beer usually made with coriander and lemon rind) and a blonde ale (a bit like Leffe but nicer). Well worth checking out.

Might be worth contacting the Sydenham Society, or Pat Trembath via here - check the Greyhound post for her details.

Yes, it is Late Knights. They are hoping to open in a couple of months as far as I'm aware. Lots of work needed on the boozer though. I'm sure it will be fab once opened.

Great stuff. Sorry we missed your birthday we were away.
I'll happily bring some reggae and soul records along one time if you like. I'm away 14th May but could well get involved on 16th July.
My mate Dan in Penge may also be interested. He's a great DJ that crosses genres. Big ...

Re: Bob Wines
Bob's stocks wines, spirits and beers you wouldn't find in your supermarket. Bob used to manage Oddbin's in West Dulwich so knows his stuff. All the beers I have had from there have been excellent. Bob said they were, so he's not just selling product for the hell of it. Everything is tried and ...
Re: Bob Wines
Popped in last night, really nice guy (the owner) and love the idea of refill wine on tap. It's a great way to cut down on waste and get excellent wines for less. They even had some fizz! And I was given a try of the red, which was delicious.

It would be terrible if it was a Costa!
Back to my comment earlier about High Streets becoming so generic. You go to Oz for example and that just doesn't exist. Consumers avoid big chains, high streets/cities don't allow chains. And if you run a chain each has to look different and be individual ...

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?
I do hope we don't see some of the well used convenience stores close because of this. And also the impact it might have on Billings and other shops on the High Street. Hopefully it will bring people in and bring them business rather than the other way round. Problem is many people would rather go ...

Been three or four times, never disappoints. Good to go for a wee drink beforehand at 161 if that's your thing too. You can make quite a lovely evening of it.

This is fantastic news. Really pleased it's working out for you guys. You're now my new local. 3 mins walk. I timed it on your opening night. In fact the weekend just gone was the first weekend since you opened I haven't been in for a pint or two with G-lady and that was because we were ill!

Thank you Monkeyarms and G-Man! I'm based just off Kirkdale and so is Captain Cookie who does the crafts at BFLF so we're aware of the history of the venue. We are hopeful that the new owners will be more community minded than the previous ones, the event with David Rodigan looked great.
