Re: Christmas Fair at Trattoria Raffaele!
This was absolutely wonderful last year and promises to be even better this year. We will again be selling Hop Box craft beer gift packs. All our beers this year are from great british micro-breweries, a northern pack with offerings from Thornbridge, Red Willow and William Bros and our southern pack ...

Re: Antic pubs have withdrawn from the Greyhound
I share people's dismay at what has happened with the Greyhound. Though I do agree with Simon that it would be political and commercial suicide if Purelake chose not to reinstate the building. Not doing so would all but ruin their chances of securing other developments in lewisham and surrounding ...

Re: Mary Portas bid for funds
An absolutely fantastic video. Will this be supplemented with a paper bid? I don't intend to nitpick and hopefully my comments are seen as being constructive. I think more could be made of the fact that investment is already planned for the high street and that spaces for markets are being created ...

Re: Christmas Fair at Trattoria Raffaele
The good folk at London Fields are due to produce a seasonal ale similar to what you describe, with raisins, Ginger, cinnamon and orange added to the hop. It wasn't bottled early enough for Sunday unfortunately. Out of the 18 beers I'll have on show I'm sure they'll be something to take your fancy ...

Re: Christmas Fair at Trattoria Raffaele
Will look forward to seeing you both there. With it being winter I've tried to have a good representation of dark beers. Not all porters though. We have a meantime chocolate stout, a farmers stout from bradfield brewery in Sheffield (just visited the brewery today) and a kostritzer black lager. I ...

Re: Christmas Fair at Trattoria Raffaele
I'll be selling Christmas craft beers at the fair, offering variety packs of 6 bottles for £15. We have some fantastic beers on offer from the likes of London Fields Brewery, Meantime, Windsor and Eaton brewery, Brewdog, Bristol beer factory and William Bros. As well as some imported foreign beers ...

Re: What is this building?
I am also curious I have enquired at Pedder and they said without knowing its address they couldnt do a Land Registry search. There was some work going on in there in the summer - I peaked through the window when I had a coffee at Kente and then the following week the window was blacked out.

Re: Woodman Public House: Planning Application change of use
A pub, maybe? I'm no expert but, I believe that Pub Cos often impose restrictive covenants on freehold sales of pubs to prevent the new vendor from actually allowing continued future usage as a pub. Its more than possible that the Woodman is subject to such a covenant in which case the prospect of ...

Sorry ignore me, just adding to the confusion. I was actually referring to the windmill on Kirkdale! Let's hope this thread can proceed smoothly from now on:)

Re: The two half´s pub
The woodman was upto 3 months ago being marketed by Bellevuwe and Mortlake. The agent suggested to me a while back it may be available at a good discount price. However the owner (private individual) has since changed his mind and wants at least a mil for it. It's a huge footprint but there are ...

Garage behind Pedder Property
Does anyone know the address of the garage on Vener Rd/ Sydenham Rd behind Pedder Property? I'm trying to establish who owns/ uses the garage.
Re: kirkdale
I must say im tempted to agree with Multisync, every time I go to Alahambra I get the impression that there is no clear strategy/ business plan - and that diversity of offer does not neccesarily result in a clear business narrative and compatability bewteen products and services. I'm not keen on ...

Re: Planning application for Money Shop at 59 Sydenham Road
Apologies if you felt i was being hostile, but it does rile me to think that people seriously consider Credit Unions to be part of the problem and not part of the solution. I agree wholeheartedly with your earlier thread on access to credit, and believe it or not, I was able to recognise that the ...

Hill dweller Never let the facts get in the way of a 'guess' or 'assumption' You may want to look at the financial accounts posted by Lewisham Plus Credit Union on their website to show how financially well run it is as an organisation and despite relying heavily on a dedicated volunteering presence ...

Re: Credit Unions vs. High Street banks vs. Money Shops etc.
In truth there is very little to differentiate Credit Unions from Building Societies that have retained their mutual model. Its a real shame that so many Building Societies have demutualised into propreity companies, as along with Credit Unions they would able to combat illegal lending and predatory ...

Re: Credit Unions vs. High Street banks vs. Money Shops etc.
Credit Union's are not for profit mutual organisations owned and run by and on behalf of their members (savers). As a result of this ownership structure they aim to strike a balance between being ethical and responsible on behalf of their members, whilst also securing their own financial stability ...

New Restaurant Application 321 Kirkdale
Today I noticed a planning application for a change of use, from retail to restaurant at 321 Kirkdale the old barbers next to the trophy shop. Looking at the plans the ground floor layout contains a charcoal grill which may suggest a Turkish restaurant perhaps??? http://acolnet.lewisham.gov.uk/LEWIS ...

Re: The Sydenham Pound?
Carl I think you are being a little unfair to suggest that people dont know anything about local currency schemes, just because they happen to disagree with the idea of a Sydenham pound. I am very familiar with LETS schemes, timebanks and dual currency schemes such as the Brixton pound. I will admit ...

Re: The Sydenham Pound?
They can only ever claim to have been a success in middle class affluent market towns like Totnes or Lewes and even then the arguement against is quite convincing. Totnes and Lewes are very successful Transition Towns. Sydenham is also now an official Transition Town - but it's not just about ...

Re: The Sydenham Pound?
A gimmick, and very expensive to run. To say local currency schemes have had mixed success is very forgiving. They can only ever claim to have been a success in middle class affluent market towns like Totnes or Lewes and even then the arguement against is quite convincing. Would people spend more ...
