Certainly the Roman road was utilized for some boundary particularly Kent/Surrey at Kent Gate, Addington/West Wickham. the boundary deviates from the route of the road there possibly to do with old manors ie Wickham Court/Addington Palace. A map copied from 1623 of Beckenham Manor shows the ...

Well into the 20th Century there were several tanneries in Southwark and Bermondsey, (Tanners Street area) and a leather market which i believe the building is still there on or near Tower Bridge Road. Some local census records can reveal occupations of tanners but earlier records also may give ...
