Re: A Walk through the Nave of the Crystal Palace 1854

Fantastic, Terry, thank you.

Loved the photos of the high level station.

Be good to see some of the correspondence listed later too, wouldn't it?!

Work at Crystal Palace

(Not sure this is the correct placing, so feel free to move it, although most Crystal Palace info seems to go here.)

There is something going on at the site of the Palace. On the parade, just about where the Fire Station used to be, there is now a site entrance and beyond that it appears that some ...

Falkor, a very big welcome back to you!

You have been missed.. You inspire Terry to post, and the resulting competitiveness is so interesting for the rest of us lesser mortals.

I was going to say the bank at 266 Sydenham Road, what used to be Barclays, and previous to that, The London And South ...

I think it's a great idea.

The amount of information here provided by Terry and Falkor and more recently by you, Konqi, is astonishing.

The only slightly waering thing is having to search through sometimes rather unrelated forum topics.

It also raises the possibility of eliciting more information ...

Ken Russell's second completed film (after Peep Show (1956) and the unfinished Knights on Bikes (1956)), Amelia and the Angel (1958) is an amateur film that was nonetheless accomplished enough to reveal a genuinely distinctive talent at work.

What's immediately striking about Amelia and the Angel ...

I know he used to live in CP, Church Road I think. You probably know more.

Are other CP locations used in the film?

Terry, great photo, you're right.

That tower to the extreme left doesn't look like the LL station. Do you know what it is?

Large house on Sydenham Hill

THT is right, I should try to attract attention via a photo.

Well, this is my attempt.

Please can somebody tell me something about this enormous house?

Hey thanks Terry.

That's a really great photo - I am always fascinated at how quickly you can lay your hands on a perfectly appropriate photo and it's a much appreciated skill.

I guess you might be right about the access to the basement and them wanting to drive people upstairs. The company may ...

Hey, thanks Terry.

You're very kind to furnish me with information on demand!

Unrelated, I know, but what's the latest photo you have of the big fountain basins at the bottom of the park?

I'm not sure when they went, but before the race track and football stadium?

You're right Terry - 1875 the previous wooden station was rebuilt.
I think.

Now it's taken 4 months for them to build a new platform!
