Re: Review of polling places and districts - have your say

Hello, I would ask that while polling placed are being reviewed that the council please refrain from using schools as polling stations. My daughters’ primary school, St Barts, is used as a polling station every year and with school holidays and inset days this extra day is too much. There are other s ...

Re: Dog barking every evening, Kirkdale/Sydenham Park?

We have constant barking in the evening from local dogs. We've had four hours solid of yapping tonight and another dog has joined in now, after midnight...any advice on how to stop it without getting neighbours' backs up? I'm at my wit's end and it's waking my daughter up.

Re: On the Hoof Bistro

I was so pleased, along with most other Sydenham dwellers when On the Hoof opened. I've been in a few times and heard some mixed experiences from others. I was really disappointed with my visit today. I had half an hour to go for a coffee before an appointment, there were three tables with four ...

Re: Primary School agonies, advice needed

Hello, If you want Eliot Bank as your first choice, I would go for it. It's a really popular school, when I went to look around it there were people from Peckham and East Dulwich looking, and they live much further than us Sydenham bods. The schools don't have catchment areas any more as such, but ...

Re: After school care - any recommendations?

Hello Kate, Thanks for that information, it always handy to have. We're really looking forward to our girl starting at St Barts, it's a great school. We've been able to get a place at the Little Diamonds after school club for September, so hopefully we're sorted now. If anyone else is interested ...

After school care - any recommendations?

Hello, My child will be starting Reception classes in September, and I'm looking for some after school care for her two days a week. Does anyone use the Little Diamonds after school club on Venner Road? I can't find a website or very much information online about them, and it would be great to hear ...

Childrens' ballet classes in SE26

Hello,

Does anyone know of a local (and inexpensive) ballet class in Sydenham? My daughter is 4, and would love to go to ballet, as she keeps telling me.

Thanks in advance.

Carpenter recommendation

Can anyone recommend a reliable carpenter with reasonable rates please? We want some floating shelves and two cupboards making for our living room, in MDF so we can paint them.

Does anyone know someone who could do a good job of this? Many thanks in advance.

Re: An idea: under 5s soft play club

It would be great to have more things to do in Sydenham with small children, apart from the park. I find that I have to go to East Dulwich, Beckenham or Crystal Palace to go to any activities for my 3 year old. There are so many mums with little children in Sydenham that having something right on ...

activity classes for a preschooler?

Can anyone recommend a local class for my 3 yr old girl? Either a dance/drama class, or a gymnastics based one that is not too expensive and good for a lively little girl? I've found one or two things that look good, but are all held in the early afternoon of days when I'm at work so unfortunately ...

Re: plumber recommendation?

I can also recommend Gavin Gregg and All Hours Plumbers (07949 085466) We've just had a new bathroom installed by them and they've been great, reliable, a very reasonable price and a high standard of workmanship as well. We couldn't be happier with our bathroom, and their good reputation is well ...

Re: Relocating to Sydenham

Hello, I moved to SE26 three years ago, when I was hugely pregnant. I absolutely love living here, much more than I thought I would. There's plenty of open space for kids, and great facilities around in the local area. I have to say that I've always felt safe here, although with a small child, I don ...

Need a chair re-upholstering...

Hello,
I was very lucky to find an old Ercol armchair in a junk shop recently, and I'm doing it up for my little girl's room.
Would anyone be able to recommend a good (and reasonably priced) upholsterer? I need new cushions and to have them covered.
Thanks very much.

Hello Suzanna,
I'd be very interested in a local nursery. My daughter is 2 and a half and I'm looking into pre-school options for her when she turns three. Please keep us all posted on any news.
Thanks

plumber recommendation?

I'm in dire need of a good plumber with reasonable rates if anyone can recommend one? The drain from my kitchen is blocked and the chap who fitted our boiler doesn't think he can tackle this....if anyone knows of anyone reliable I'd be really grateful if you could let me have their details. Many ...
