Sainsbury's Bell Green

I have noticed much bigger queues particularly at weekends - mainly since Argos, Specsavers etc opened instore, but not so much sparsely packed shelves as mentioned in the News Shopper: https://www.newsshopper.co.uk/news/16954599.complaints-over-sydenham-sainsburys-queues-and-empty-shelves/ As for ...

Re: Moynuls restaurant

I tried it when it first opened (after the Lemon Tree closed) and was not impressed.
Had a limited menu and the dish's me and the wife had were not very nice - did not have a drinks licence either.
Always looked empty whatever time I passed by so not really surprised that it seems to have shut down.

Newlands Park

I noticed a sign at the traffic lights Newlands Park / Sydenham Road stating bus numbers 75 & 194 on diversion (straight ahead rather than turn left into Newlands Park) from 21.00hrs Weds 1st August. Does anyone know why this is and for how long? I need to drive up Newlands Park early on Thursday ...

Re: Poundstretcher in old co-op site

Heard a rumour over the weekend from somebody that claims to have seen the approved plans, that the site will become a Wetherspoons pub. Can't see that working myself as there is already a decent choice of pubs that serve food along Sydenham Road. No sign of it on the Lewisham planning portal - and ...

Lights were off for a day or 2 - probably the bulbs went.
They must have replaced them as the lights are back on now - you can't waste enough electricity can you.....

Re: Sydenham cars

If you mean the cab company next to Sydenham station (London Cars), then I agree.
They are very reliable and reasonably priced - I use them a lot.

Re: Mopeds

The original post was not "picking on these silly boys" as opposed to inconsiderate and ignorant car drivers. I think it was more a warning as these type of moped riders (2 up, no crash helmets, faces covered with hoods etc) are similar to the ones mentioned on the news in other parts of London ...

Re: Mopeds

They overtook me going up the high street around 18.45 by the Alfred (one on inside and one on outside) and at the lights by Mayow Road (which were red) one went up on the pavement and the other just went through anyway. 4 blokes all masked and gloved up so looked a tad dodgy. If you saw them coming ...

Re: Remember to vote today

Would like to think that after 40 years of Labour rule and 16 years of a Labour mayor without any visible benefit to the borough of Lewisham, and the carve up that senior Labour councillors have with an off shore faceless development company to re-generate the area around the ground of the boroughs ...

Re: Missing post?

Got home last night to a ton of post.
Would be nice if the Post Office gave some kind of explaination / excuse as to why they did not deliver any post around Tredown for over a week.

Re: Missing post?

Really not good enough - no post at all for over a week because the post can't cope when they have a few off on the sick.
My wife is waiting for an important document which is probably gathering dust in a sorting office while the postie is at home with his feet up.

Re: Missing post?

We've had nothing this week (Tredown Road). If the usual Postie is off on holiday or sick, they used to split the round with another Postie and you would get deliveries every other day. I don't think they bother with this anymore and if your Postie is off your mail will have to wait a while. Are ...

Re: Big crash outside station - Sydenham road closed

Whilst everyone has speculated various causes of this crash, one possibility is that one of the cars may have turned right out of Silverdale without looking properly or misjudging the speed of oncoming car (as I have seen some do).
Main thing is nobody seems to be badly hurt.
