Re: Au Revior Sydenham

I also need to say my goodbyes... on Sunday, I leave my house on Canal Walk and move to a flat in St Pancras Chambers. Thanks to the 5-a-side lads for the occasional game, and also to all those who helped deliver my leaflets during the campaign to get the high street improvement plans approved. When ...

Re: The Bad News

Just to counter some of the doom and gloom, I bought a house in Sydenham at pretty much the top of the market in 2007 and (having learned a valuable lesson) have just sold it at a loss of only 2%. Given that the mortgage has been cheap as chips for the last 18 months, I'd say I got away with a bad ...

I need to rent a garage in Sydenham

Does anyone in Sydenham have a garage they'd be happy to rent out to me on a monthly basis so that I can park my car safely indoors during the winter? Ideally I need somewhere within half a mile of Sydenham station.

Re: Sydenham Farmer's Market...??

I think people would see that the benefits of having a monthly farmer's market on their doorstep would outweigh the inconvenience of having to park elsewhere for a few hours one Sunday a month.

I'd like a farmer's market in Sydenham; I currently make the trip to the Blackheath one every couple of ...

I would have missed it, as I'm not in London this week - so I brought my bike with me :-)

Re: 5-a-side footie

I'm in provided nobody minds me staying in goal for the entire game. I saw the physio at work today and she suggested no running for four weeks and no kicking for eight - apparently kicking is much harder on the quads than running.

I am sure Chazza is a profficient cyclist, but many of the yoof who ride on our pavements do not have a driving licence, or even probably ownership of the vehicle they are riding.
:D this comment just popped into my inbox and my first thought was, "I haven't commented on that thread, Ali B must ...

Re: waitrose looking for location

Here we go. Just because you think it's overpriced, nobody should have the choice to shop there.

Get over the hair-shirt attitudes. It's holding Sydenham back and, to be honest, makes me want to leave for somewhere up north. Highbury perhaps.

Honestly, I'm beginning to wonder about Sydenham. The ...

None of those are natural competitors of Waitrose, so I think the high street could support the potential newcomer.

Re: Keen cycle nuts in Sydenham ?

Indeed the bikes are pretty heavy, but it shouldn't really matter on the short rides for which they're intended - central London isn't exactly hilly. Making the bikes lighter would have made them either less durable or more expensive. I just wish the scheme extended a little further out, perhaps as ...

I'm out until mid-August - I'm doing the London tri on the 7th and don't want to take the risk of getting injured again so close to that date.

I forgot to say last night, I'm cycling to Devon this weekend and will stay there for the week, so count me out. I'll be back the week after, although I might have to do another full stint between the sticks if my right leg decides it doesn't want to play outfield. The other option would be to play ...

Sounds good, unfortunately though I don't think I can get the time off work then. I'm riding to Devon this weekend, 100-odd miles per day. These will be my first centuries, having previously ridden 60 miles max. Have you got any tips on what/how much to eat during the ride? Every website I read says ...

I agree with rshdunlop. If the customer had been happy with either the service or the handling of the complaint on the day, they'd not have made the forum post. It's the old adage - if a customer is happy, they'll tell one person. If they're not, they'll tell ten.

I agree, maybe invest in some of that state-of-the-art goal-line technology used by the BBC yesterday, which showed the ball crossing England's goal line many, many times :(

Smells pretty awful on Venner Road, thanks to the bin men chucking random bits of crap all over the road as they emptied the bins, and the street sweepers who decided to pile up dozens of rubbish bags in the street, in plastic bags, so that cats and foxes could tear them apart and spread rotting ...
