Re: Council housing and the Sydenham Society

Morning all
Thanks for the replies!
The feedback can certainly be taken constructively and there are some good suggestions for how things can improve. I for one do not think anyone on here as an enemy! It's great you're expressing your views and suggesting ways for improvement. It's much better to ...

Re: Council housing and the Sydenham Society

Evening everyone
It's a real shame of the negative view some people have on the involvement of the Sydenham Society, but it's good that views are aired so they can be considered and improvements made.

As some of you know, I work alongside other volunteers on the Sydenham Society although my time ...

Re: Syd Society help request for pavement opposite library?

Morning
The council have informed us the Highways Inspector will be visiting the premises shortly. The Sydenham Ward councillors and the council have been aware of the issues and are looking to improve matters. I'll let you have an update once we have it.
Best wishes

Re: Syd Society help request for pavement opposite library?

Morning
Sorry for the delay.
We went and took photos recently of the tyre business and how it is operating and we are following it up with our councillors to hopefully apply some pressure to get the situation improved. It might be worth everyone contacting the council direct on the matter too to ...

Re: Syd Society help request for pavement opposite library?

Hi
Apologies for the delay in replying. Certainly sounds like cars parked on the pavement are causing damage. Sydenham Society will escalate this with our council and get back with next steps.

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?

Morning everyone
A second site visit to The Greyhound yesterday shows work going on apace but various hitches have occurred - the utilities took longer to install and damp was found in the basement which needed urgent rectification and this has now been completed.

A manager has been appointed and ...

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?

Morning
Pat and I from The Sydenham Society had a tour of The Greyhound with the new owners and tweeted a few photos yesterday.
The fit out is going well although, as with most builds, there are a few unexpected surprises which may impact a launch date. They're keen to launch ASAP though, hopefully ...

The owner of The Greyhound started on internal works today which are expected to take 11-12 weeks to complete the fit out. Ready in time for a Christmas tipple hopefully!!
Cheers :)

Re: Fix my Street

Well done Pat and everyone else who reported it. Yes it was great to see Lewisham act so quickly. Let's hope they go after the culprits!

I think we all have a responsibility to act and report matters like this so let's keep flagging them on places like the forum and other online channels and then ...

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?

Afternoon. Greyhound update!

The owner has told Sydenham Society that his application for the fit-out of the pub has now been accepted by Lewisham Council. He hopes to be on site in early to mid September starting work on the refurbishment. With any luck, by Christmas, this splendid new venture ...

Proposed reduced train services in 2018

Afternoon
Train alert! Govia Thameslink Railway have published their proposals for Southern Train services from 2018. This Thursday is the deadline to object. They are VERY bad, for two reasons:

I. Three late evening trains from London Bridge will be taken out of the timetable - making it ...

Re: The Sydenham Society

Thanks for the feedback and ideas everyone. Agree on informing people will avoid the void issue! Will raise these at the next EC meeting and see what we can release and when. I'll try and not abbreviate the society to the SS though! My degree is in comms and marketing Tim so hopefully I can find ...

Re: The Sydenham Society

Thank you Simon!

Parker, one of the reasons I haven't checked in to view comments for ages or joined before is some people make this forum quite a negative, critical place. Slating people who are trying to help isn't really a positive thing to do. It's a shame when the forum is like this as it ...

Re: Syd Society help request for pavement opposite library?

Evening all
Funnily enough I believe a member of the Sydenham Society was out on the streets today checking on this very issue ahead of a town meeting which I think is on Tuesday. Pedestrian safety is an important issue. Will let you know more once I do.

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?

I have seen an email from the new owner who said he is finalising internal fit out plans with the council and it is a bit slower than anticipated. Let's just be patient and look forward to it being completed and opened soon. Let's not spend the time whilst we wait being impatient and ungrateful to ...

Re: The Sydenham Society

Morning everyone
I have been a member of Sydenham Society for a few years and I now sit on the Executive Committee.
One of the areas I'm keen to develop is how we can engage with and communicate to the local community. It's good to see some positive ideas and suggestions on this thread which are ...
