Re: Local Train Services
Those four trains an hour ........... would be great if we had them. If we could rely on four trains an hour from Victoria and London Bridge, then nights out in Central London wouldn't have the anxiety about missing the train and being stranded. True, that is annoying when it happens. Guess my ...

Re: Local Train Services
Your question implies we're not already well served.. I'd argue that trains every 10-15 minutes into Victoria, London Bridge/Charing Cross and Canada Water/Highbury & Islington within a walkable distance of the centre of town is pretty enviable... Add back in the (forthcoming?) connection to East ...

Re: TfL rules out regular London Overground trains to London Bridge
Getting back to four trains per hour to LBG again is great news. Let's hope the two extra go down to East Croydon rather than round the loop to Victoria - that route is already well-served by four tph from nearby Penge and the existing two from Sydenham. The slow change via Norwood Junction to get ...

Re: Southeastern trains to Lewisham, Cannon St ending
I'm surprised there's spare platform capacity at Charing Cross, to be honest. The Greenwich line services (via Woolwich/Charlton/Blackheath) to Charing Cross have been cut, which must be contributing to the capacity. They've done that to reduce congestion at Lewisham, which is to be applauded by ...

Re: Southeastern trains to Lewisham, Cannon St ending
The ending of Cannon St trains on the Hayes line now confirmed by the new December timetables:
https://timetables.southeasternrailway. ... Table%206a
Trains from Lower Sydenham still quarter-hourly, and alternate trains will stop at Lewisham for the DLR connection.

Re: (Proper) Fibre Broadband now live in Sydenham
When did they lay the cables in your road? They laid the cables in our road a couple of months ago and their website still says "coming soon" to your area. Wondered how long after the initial work they need before being able to sign up. Cheers. If your place is served by a telegraph pole, look and ...

(Proper) Fibre Broadband now live in Sydenham
If you've had Community Fibre digging on your road recently, you may find you're now able to place an order for 'proper' Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) broadband. They have a six months free offer on at the moment, and cover speeds up to 1Gbps. I've seen them on the roads around the library over the ...

Re: The Sydenham Society
For what it's worth, I'm a member of the Sydenham Society and value what they do - but it does feel like their remit is more about protecting our heritage than painting an inspiring vision for what Sydenham could be and putting pressure on our councillors and supporting local businesses to make that ...

Re: sydenham needs an uplifting
I think Sydenham has got all of the right ingredients to be a much richer, more vibrant town centre than the myriad comments here suggest we feel it is today. Our transport links, amenities, housing stock and green spaces are as good as anywhere (if not better than places like East Dulwich). So why ...

Looks like it's going to be called The Poodle Club, run by the people behind the comedy night of the same name that used to run in Stoke Newington.

Re: Save Beer Rebellion - we need your help!
So, the old BR site is going to be "a comedy venue with stand-up, improv, classes and workshops, and day time kids events". Also still a licensed bar.
Much as I'll miss BR, this does sound rather good, and a real shot in the arm for that end of the high street..

Re: sydenham needs an uplifting
Suggesting a McDonald's is trolling because you don't agree with it? Not at all - trolling as a provocative art form is a passtime worth celebrating on its own merits. And was admitted as such by its very author. FWIW though, I do think a McD's of that scale would be a shame on our local ...

This is next-level trolling - bravo! Only the suggestion of a Foxtons would push more middle-class liberal buttons in this context.KPR wrote:Personally I hope Co-op becomes a McDonalds

Re: postal deliveries
Sounds like this is a pretty widespread issue, then. We had no deliveries on Mon, Tue or Weds this past week, and then 12 (!) items delivered across two separate deliveries on Thursday. I asked the postie about it, who mentioned something about "a backlog at the office" and that it wasn't their ...
