Re: My take on London's Riots

Perhaps if they made themselves look a little bit more employable i.e - ditching the garish wardrobe and nonchalant, bolshy attitude that urban 'youths' are so notorious for. Thus taking more responsibility for their destiny and relieving the disproportionate burden placed on society's shoulders ...

Re: Post all the news of the Riots here (To make it easy)

I can hear quite a few sirens still. Have been able to all night.

Helicopters were common a couple of nights ago, maybe one or two seen yesterday but none today.

I'm in Lower Sydenham though, so don't know if it's just a geographical distinction.

I know people who were almost in tears prior to going on Christmas holiday last year, because our college hadn't successfully paid some students their EMA, and for some (eh, not all, by no means) meant they'd practically starve for two weeks and be kicked out of their homes.

So ...

Re: Post all the news of the Riots here (To make it easy)

These aren't made for these riots. This is information given out to a lot of protesters, and have existed for a while.

Not made for these riots, when they're referring to recent events in Tottenham?

The general information given on there is from hand outs I've seen, in person, from protests ...

Re: Post all the news of the Riots here (To make it easy)

In this kind of atmosphere, it’s not surprising that officers in charge of subduing a riot think it safer to wait for orders from the top rather than use their discretion to protect the public without fear or favour.
With greatest respect tonight is not the best night to have a pop at the police ...

Re: Post all the news of the Riots here (To make it easy)

This adds a new, more sinister dimension to what's unfolding across London:

Re: waitrose looking for location

I'll second what many have said - Waitrose are not expensive, at all imo. In fact, my parents shop at both Waitrose and Sainsbury's and often have found that Sainsbury's can be more expensive. Moreover, Waitrose offer a better kind of service, with local food produce and are just a better kind of ...

Re: Lewisham Council - £60m of spending cuts!

But again, surely the Carnegie UK Trust could be approached to offer to front some, or even all, of the repair costs?

Has this even happened? I'm sorry if I've missed something but to my knowledge it hasn't.

Regardless of repairs necessary, nobody in their right mind could think the Naborhood ...

Re: Lewisham Council - £60m of spending cuts!

I have really fond memories of Sydenham Library - I've been brought up in Sydenham, and my mother has for those 18 years (and before) been working for the library (albeit now in a fortnightly role). I remember going there as a child, learning how to read and write through the efforts of the ...

Good vocal coaches in Sydenham/surrounding area?

Hi.

I'm a young person (let's just say teens for sake of argument) and I want to train my voice. I've found that singing is the only thing that's gotten me through the last few years of my life (specifically anyway) due to depression, and I'm not the greatest singer in the world, but I do know I ...
