Re: Help Shape the NHS in Lewisham & Penge
I think the key problem at the moment is that many of these fat contracts with the favourable terms and lax regulation go to companies that have close ties to government, indeed many ministers end up taking at least non-executive posts with these companies. So it's not so much incompetence that is t...

Re: Help Shape the NHS in Lewisham & Penge
But that is the point most firmly believe that this is the thin end of the wedge, and will ultimately lead to patients having to pay for treatment. Thin end of the wedge arguments are almost always wrong - they depend on an audience which is scared that either (1) the other side is inherently wicke...

Re: Help Shape the NHS in Lewisham & Penge
I just don't see the advantage of getting private companies in? Why not employ the employees direct. The private companies make their money by paying minimum wages and compromising service (case in point the cleaners that have about 7 seconds to clean a room as shown in a Panorama program a few year...

But that is the point most firmly believe that this is the thin end of the wedge, and will ultimately lead to patients having to pay for treatment. Plus even the bill in its current form is all about saving money not about improving services. Fine if there were tax breaks to go with it but there are...

Re: The two half's is under offer
Hi Mosey,
Don't know if you know but there is this which is quite close by:
http://www.dulwichchessclub.org.uk/
Would still like to see such facilities in Sydenham though.

Re: Help Shape the NHS in Lewisham & Penge
Hi dickp, As I understand if you are free to pick which GP you want? Also you are pretty free to go to any hospital you want? Make no mistake these proposals are the start of privatisation of the NHS, if you support that then of course you are entitled to your opinion. But I would say to you this, l...

Re: Help Shape the NHS in Lewisham & Penge
Indeed I believe the vast majority of the medical profession are against it:

Privatisation in the railways has been a disaster for the consumer, I really hope the NHS does not go the same way.

Help Shape the NHS in Lewisham & Penge
The government’s plans to privatise and fragment our NHS are taking shape in Lewisham West and Penge. Local doctors are forming a Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) for the area. They’re going to get new powers to decide what health services you and your neighbours are able to access and who provide...

Re: Does anyone else struggle with Wells Park Doctors?
My biggest bug bear is that even when you finally get an appointment and turn up at the allotted time you can be left waiting for up to half an hour?
When I was younger I used to be able to walk into my local surgery and never had to wait that long?

Re: Cobbs Corner Roundabout
Indeed but I was not talking about taking a roundabout at 30mph?
Rather the new ramps they are introducing at the pesestrian crossings? And in case of any doubt only when they are clear of perestrians

Re: Cobbs Corner Roundabout
thanks rshdunlop Looks like it is those pedestrian crossings (I think), I just hope that the up and down ramps are sufficiently gentle that you don't ruin your suspension going over at a perfectly legal 30mph. To be honest though there seem to be more ramp marking than perdestrian crossings shown on...

Re: Cobbs Corner Roundabout
Very worries to see marking for ramps at regular intervals?
I do hope these are not going to be speed humps.
Would hate to think out tax money is going to be used to ruin the high street!

Re: Parking policy review
Filled out the review and I'm dead against it. Having lived in CPZ zones at all my previous addresses I know what a nightmare they can be. They are just a revenue generator for the council, don't think that they will mean easier parking for you. They council always issue too many (to generate income...

Re: Speed Camera
Hi Stuart, The installation of sleeping policemen mean that they tend to race between humps concentrating on braking/accelerating points rather than what is going on in the road around them. This is what I mean by them being counterproductive they only reduce speed at certain points and can distract...

Re: Speed Camera
Totally agree of the traffic calming they are at best ineffective and at worst counterproductive. Would hate for my actions leading to such measures. There was someone run over outside my flat just a couple of weeks ago, wonder if there have been others? Would not be suprised given the speed of thos...

Re: Speed Camera
Agreed I would not like to see physical road calming measures, but the fact is some heavy vehichles are absolutely flying down the top part of the hill. (As are lighter vehicles particularly motorbikes but I can live with that). I'd be happy is they even moved the sign that tells you your speed furt...
