It's not about "not liking people" it is about inappropriate and unnecessary development. The proposal as it stands would create a building higher than the surrounding properties blocking out the views of and devaluing neighbouring properties as well as creating more unoccupied and not nee...

trains up the spout this morning

Be warned a trackside fire at selhurst is causing severe delays this morning into LB. I have just waited 20 mins for a train (whilst about 4 were diverted down the fast track). Not a single announcement from Southern - so I was unable to inform work exactly when I would make the 9.30 meeting. Thanks...

Sherlock Holmes at the Dolphin

In a word DREADFUL. If you were going to book tickets - don't. If you have booked tickets -see if you can get your money back. I am not going to go in detail as to why it was bad - it would take too long and quite frankly I have wasted enough of my time on it. It was the first time I had been to the...

Just to update you on what has happened since. Cllr Russel had also witnessed the above incident and had made his own separate complaint to the police. I had a reply from Lewisham Council licensing dept who said that there was no breach of the license so they couldn't do anthing - but I had much mor...

I have already had a response from Cllr Alex Feakes who I cc'd on my e-mail to the council who said that if required he would be happy to take this further. Will keep you posted

Another night another fight at the Windmill. This time at 12.20am, outside. Glasses were thrown followed by a brawl which spilled out into the road, stopping traffic. One guy was punched to the ground and then repeatedly kicked. Later on a gang of men arrived and spent the next hour looking for the ...

As to the posters explaining this - would anyone read the explanations?
We need something to do whilst we wait for the trains!

Thanks, Barty, for your continued insights as to how it all really works - it really is informative and does make one think about the bigger picture.

To be honest I would question the organisational or planning skills of anyone whose plans to be on time for work or an important meeting will stand or fall on a delay of two or three minutes with a train connection. I totally agree - given the unreliable nature of the train service! '' But ser...

I agree, 5 mins can be the difference between arriving on time or late for work / meeting. In the real world late is late whether it is five minutes or 25 minutes. Whilst I am pleased at the improvement in Southern's performance it is not much comfort for those who have been late or missed a connect...

Peak Hill Gardens Gate

Apologies if this is posted elsewhere - I haven't seen it.

There is a notice by the gate onto platform one saying that it will be out of action for eight weeks from May 5th whilst work is undertaken on the new oyster gates. There will be no step free access to that platform during that time.

To be honest I wouldn't be sad to see it go. Over the past few months it has got worse and worse in there and chucking out time has got noisier and noisier. On Wednesday there was a massive fight outside - I saw one poor guy getting kicked in the head. The police came along and I hope they gave them...

Whilst I agree that it is a problem that people are being left a bus stops far from home, I thought that her response was refreshingly open and honest and I'm not entirely sure what else she could say or do to to make the situation better. The reasons for cutting journeys short seems perfectly logic...

Firstly, I'm surprised this is suddenly news. When Raj closed his newsagents 3 months ago he cited the arrival of the Tesco as the straw that broke the camel's back in the decision making process. Secondly, as a resident who lives right in the heart of this part of Kirkdale I am not entirely sure ho...
