Re: Bin collection
I am used to the bins being collected at least a day late after public holidays, so I didn't bother putting mine out on its normally designated day. When I checked online that day to see if the delay was going to be 1 or 2 days I was horrified Yes that is usually the case so Im curious why this hap...

Re: Train services - Southern - disruption till 10th January
This seems pretty drastic affecting services to Victoria and our own Southern Service via Sydenham to London Bridge. Covid related. There will be no Southern or Gatwick Express services at London Victoria, Battersea Park, Clapham Junction or Wandsworth Common until Monday 10 January. Stopping servi...

Bin collection
Hi all I hope you had a great christmas and are covid free. To my surprise my bins were emptied yesterday which was essentially boxing day and it makes absolutely no sense. Many people have left Sydenham so there is less waste and no urgency. I want this nonsense to stop, our waste collectors have d...

Re: (Proper) Fibre Broadband now live in Sydenham
If you've had Community Fibre digging on your road recently, you may find you're now able to place an order for 'proper' Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) broadband. They have a six months free offer on at the moment, and cover speeds up to 1Gbps. I've seen them on the roads around the library over the ...

Re: Covid Vaccine - Third Booster Jab
Hearing reports (some first hand) that at schools, for both pupils and staff, counts of absentees are very high. I another thread we are seeing local Royal Mail management reporting high numbers of absentees too. As always, first hand encounters are rarer - especially if you are observing any modic...

Re: Covid Vaccine - Third Booster Jab
The gov dashboard states 124% 2k to 4k increase in cases in 7 days. Has anyone noticed any increases or is this number overstated? Well, when I last managed to get the interactive site to work we were still in dark blue - it's now magenta and dark burgundy (which technically means limitless), if th...

Re: Covid Vaccine - Third Booster Jab
Yes. I'm getting reports of local positive cases which supports this. As for flu - if folks follow Chris Witty's advice rather than Boris then the greater social distancing will be even more effective in stopping flu than mitigating Omicron. I had my flu jab at Kirkdale Touchwood back in October. I...

Re: Covid Vaccine - Third Booster Jab
Afternoon all, So I got my third jab last month it was pfizer and my lymph nodes were swollen for a few weeks so I couldn't get my flu jab. Now due to the insane covid numbers in Sydenham Ive put it off. The gov dashboard states 124% 2k to 4k increase in cases in 7 days. Has anyone noticed any incre...

Re: Petrol station
The national reserve stock of petrol will be in those cars that do not need full tanks. The petrol companies will put prices up. Petrol stations will be re-stocked. We have seen it all before. And all because THERE IS NO PETROL SHORTAGE. There - we are all back to normal and the prices have gone up...

Re: Sainsbury’s Local safety screen removal
The plastic screens have proved to be a hindrance as restricting air flow so good news that the are being removed Deaths are roughly 43 per day and daily cases no more than 40,000 per day despite the doom mongers predicting 100000 per day Thankfully covid is now endemic as oppposed to a pandemic, l...

Re: Petrol station
There is the slimmest possibility it will be short lived. Once the tens of millions of cars that happily pootled around with half-filled tanks have filled their tanks to the brim, the demand will reduce. The national reserve stock of petrol will be in those cars that do not need full tanks. The pet...

Hi all, has the madness reached Sydenham? Yes. The garage on Kirkdale has a long queue, traffic not moving in either direction, people turning right into the garage have blocked the oncoming lane and it took an ambulance 10 mins to get through. https://i.imgur.com/xoA8Vnq.jpg Well the yellowhammer ...

Hey can someone tell me how to get rid of the tyre mountain at Sydenham tyres? As a member of the Friends of Sydenham Tyres Tyre Mountain (trying saying that after a few) I say hands off, it's the only man made structure in Sydenham that can be seen from outer space. :D It’s like a 1970’s rag and b...
