Re: THAI RESTAURANT COMES TO SYDENHAM
That is fantastic news! I would love a Thai in Sydenham, we always use the one in crystal palace, but would much prefer to support locally. No59 on Sydenham road, is just perfect for a restaurant as it's a great size, in a good location In the middle of the high street, and with a pocket park will p...

Re: WHAT IF no 14: FRESH & FRUITY UPDATED
Think all the designs are fantastic. If any of them were implimented it would be great. My favorite is 1a but really like the designs on the shutter with the bike in the last one though. Would really help with advertising when the shops closed & help to make the high street seem nicer in the eve...

Re: The Old Snooker Hall
I would definately agree about having to be visable. If people can't see you, they don't know (or can forget) you are there. I often go glance at the dolphin when I'm driving past, if there looks like atmosphere/ busy then I might pop in later (particularly at Christmas). Same with billings, I walk ...

Sydenham Library
Just read in the evening standard, Sydenham library might be taken over by an not- for profit entrepreneur & he plans on keeping it open. Sounds fantastic if it happens..!

Re: GOOD NEWS
Does anyone know if the shop lettings in the Greyhound are being targetted in this way? I guess I mean are the owners/ Sydenham Society/ Town Mgr (?) getting businesses lined up so when it opens the shops wouldn't be left empty ,and also get this 'critical mass' of all opening at the same time. it w...
Re: GOOD NEWS
Does anyone know what the blind shop is going to be turned into? It would be great if it was something that would compliment Kente..
Also saw the shop next to the PFC is also being worked on - is this where the costcutters will be going?

Re: GOOD NEWS
Isn't the blind shop being changed into a money shop, or is this a different shop your talking about? Sydenham station is also getting a revamp over the next couple of months too as there where flyers in the station this morning. [ Post made via Mobile Device ] http://sydenham.org.uk/mobile.png

Re: Blocking off Queensthorpe Road
I didn't realise the money shop was looking to move into the old curtain shop. I think that would be a huge step backwards for the high street and Sydenham in general. Is there a petition out there to sign to object?

Re: Blocking off Queensthorpe Road
I also live in the thorpes, but am in favour of the square blocking off queensthorpe. I understand your concerns, but also think it could be fantastic if done properly. I think It could make many of the thorpe roads quieter and safer and make the high street much prettier. If a restaurant or cafe to...

Love clean streets
Just found an iPhone app for lewisham to log anything which needs cleaning up (already knew about the website fro here) but the app is great. Was walking to work this morning and a tin of paint had burst and was all over the pavement and road. Took a photo my iPhone uploaded via the app and when I g...

Re: Have you bought your fish this week?
I definately think flyers and advertising would be useful for Billings. I wouldn't know it was there except for having to walk down the main high street to get home from work. Blue mountain did some really good advertising before they opened, offering a discount & flyering the whole area that th...

Re: Have you bought your fish this week?
I kind of hope billings doesn't diversify, there are too many shops on the high street that do 'a bit of everything'. I really like the fact Billings is branding itself as a high quality fishmongers. You know what you're getting and they do it well. They are experts and knowledgeable - and that is p...

Re: Have you bought your fish this week?
I must admit, I would really use a really good butchers on the high street. At the moment get it from either Somerfield or occasionally Sainsbury's. We would much rather support a local business. I saw somewhere the owner of Billings might open a butchers. That would be really good and probably appe...

Has Sydenham still got its funding to regenerate the high st
Does anyone know if the regeneration of Sydenham high street still has the go-ahead, or has this now been axed since the cuts in public spending.
Would be such a shame after all the time spend planning, consulting, liaising, petitioning, lobbying etc over the last few years to get this far..

Re: Have you bought your fish this week?
I think you may have been just really unlucky. I popped in yesterday and the service was fantastic. Was given two massive pieces of tuna and when looking for receipes was given some suggestions for tuna. Gave me some free parsley and even knocked a £1 off the price. My husband isn't really a fish fa...

Re: Sydenham Flower Studio
I think that part of the high street will start to look lovely if fresh and fruity get a bit of a facelift too. If will also encourage people like me to pop into both there and billings for my weekly shop.
I think it's great how much your doing for the high Street Lee.. keep the good work up!

Re: WHAT IF no 13: BILLINGS Fishmongers & butchers
May be they should try some advertising, leafleting the area..? There only real competition I can think of is Moxons in ED. I think Blue Mountain did this when it first opened and with proffesional leaflets maybe people would travel to Sydenham to visit if they new it was there - especially if offer...

Re: Sydenham Farmer's Market...??
really love the idea. Would be great addition to Sydenham. How about on a Sunday at the top of Venner Road (as it's shut off). There were proposals in the regeneration of the high street to put something here. Would also help to bring people onto the high street and stop off at Blue mountain, Sugar ...

Re: WHAT IF no 13: BILLINGS Fishmongers & butchers
Just did a bit of a detour past Billings and the sign looks awesome! VERY excited about the new addition to the high-street and can really see it taking form. On my wonder I also noticed Gukhas has a tempory sign up too at the moment. I didn't realise but Gukhas has one of the nicest orginal signs a...
