Re: Crystal Palace stadium re-development?
here's more detail: * The main income will be generated rom the use of the football club * Second sports team to be investigated, rugby union etc. (11 league home matches if a union Premiership club, plus various cup competitions; if rugby league then that's a summer sport) * Unique parkland setting...

Re: Crystal Palace stadium re-development?
The history of CP matters too much.I think it's appalling that BigBiz has the wherewithalls to make such a boastful 'announcement' and hope it hasn't been endorsed by council members of any type. Hot off press, the proposal is for a 40,000 capacity stadium plus a new indoor aquatic centre, a reconf...

Re: Crystal Palace stadium re-development?
The fans would filter out via the race track to CP station and Anerley Hill, or via the wide road to Penge West station. The worst would be Crystal Palace winning something, and the dinosaurs gaining some scarves and hats - but they're pretty grumpy anyway so it would be an improvement. I can't see...

Re: Crystal Palace stadium re-development?
The presence of crowds and police on match days or nights may halt many current sporting activities centred on the park. Allowing 22 players to run around for money would probably stop many hundreds enjoying free fun and fitness. I quiver in horror at becoming a NIMBY! Stuart Here's another insight...

Re: Crystal Palace stadium re-development?
CPFC press conference on Thursday I don't like the sound of that 'announce plans'. Wouldn't they need permission and aren't two councils involved? Me neither HD!The park is the on the perimeter of 5 adjoining councils but it falls within the brough of Bromley. The surrounding highways and byways wo...

Re: Some minor observations
Please excuse my undoubted ignorance but what is EDFer. Hey Duke Glad you survived that Barrel of Malmsbury Wine. ( Hope I got that correct ) Hi Eagle, You are excused! An EDFer is a person who posts on the East Dulwich Forum. Now I take it from your username that you are indeed of the male variety...

Re: Some minor observations
Oh, and Duke of Clarence, you're almost certainly a member of the EDF, but I haven't quite figured-out who you are on there, yet. Now, now Virginia it's not nice to accuse people of being an EDFer, it could come across as needy heffer and I'm no heffer you cheeky mare  nor do I post on there....

Re: Some minor observations
Thank you Hill Dweller (I trust that's really Hilda?), you can call me Duchess if you like  Being "accused" of impersonating a BBW is a compliment IMO. I know Virginia's not for the faint hearted and that she can be a bit harsh *lowers voice* (depending on what time of month it is) b...

Re: Some minor observations
Hello all, New poster to ST, although I regularly post from the top of the hill on the Virtual Norwood Forums - I just thought that I would have a nose around here for a change. I must admit it seems a bit male dominated here, but I probably notice it more as a female. VN strikes me as probably mor...

Re: Sydenham gets its new community centre
A happy New Year anyway. Robin (My real name, so no need for inverted commas! I suspect 'Duke of Clarence' is a pseudonym. If not, apologies to Your Royal Highness.) A Happy New Year back atcha and Your Highness will do nicely thanks Robin! I think Tim makes good point re council policies on this t...

Re: Sydenham gets its new community centre
Presumably the possible incidental adverse effects on the local area, including an assessment of 'examples of similar projects operating in residential areas' , were considered by LBL when the plans for the new centre were being consulted on. If so, someone from the council (Elaine Smith?) may be i...

Re: Sydenham gets its new community centre
Perhaps the promoters of this new youth and community centre could give some examples of similar projects operating in residential areas to give a better idea of the sort of impact this scheme may have on the surrounding homes and neighbourhoods.

Re: The Sydenham Pound?
Ok Big Bad Wolf let's add street drinkers to the list of prospective icons. On a more positive note (no pun intended) I'd like to add Kelly Brook as prospective Sydenham pound cover girl along with our Helga. Any other famous faces for the list?

Re: Crystal Palace Park
The LDA have pulled out of the park but my understanding is that they still have the lease on the Sports Hall and Stadium. Still doesn't mean the conversion will happen but I don't think that part of it is down to Bromley council tax payers. Cllr John Getgood Penge & Cator Nor should it be Cllr...

Re: Crystal Palace Park
I see from English Heritage that Crystal Palace's pool is only going to be open until 2012 following approval of the Crystal Palace Masterplan when "It will then be converted to 'dry' use to complement a new sports centre nearby." Does anybody have any information on what is to be built? ...

BBW - I happen to have a Brixton Pound note, so in the unlikely event that you are actually interested in what it looks like - here it is http://www.lund.co.uk/images/BrixtonPound%20(Small).jpg Wonder what the Sydenham Pound would have on the front: a double fronted Cator Road villa? Mayow Park? a ...

Re: What's akin with The Dolphin?
rshdunlop sums up the psychology of the thread perfectly. The sometimes random nature of a thread can prove to be more interest than the actual subject, which as rshdunslop has already pointed out is generally covered on first page. It is fair to point out that a wide range of people use forums for ...

O dear as appealing as that suggestion is Commander I'm not into D&S! The Dolphinista experience is (sadly) not all leiderhosen, blondes and uniforms. I am sorry that the Wolf and the Duke may have led you to believe otherwise however Berlin's Kit Kat club may cater for your, urm, special needs....

Re: se23.com - an exile from the north speaks out
Meanwhile over on Virtual Norwood BMS (Bad Mod Syndrone) is alive and kicking but not so free speech. After he decided to ban everyone from posting about the park the forum administrator (a non-dom who lives in NYC and is bothered about advertising revenue but not local issues) suspended the account...
