Re: Parking problems
Sorry Mary while welcoming you back to the Forum , on this subject we beg to differ. We have a real problem with people from outside Sydenham parking near our stations and blocking spaces for business and locals. A , say 11 to 1 pm ban would be a good idea as could easily be policed or a complete C...

Re: Parking problems
I always find you very aggressive on this forum Marymk and v biased towards the older members of the community and the disabled. To help our town be a thriving vibrant place where people want to live and work we need it designed for everybody, young and old. I can tell you that the ONLY space ever ...

Re: Parking problems
Lewisham's CPZs hit the disabled especially badly. If a blue badge holder can drive themselves and they own a car and live within a CPZ then they can apply for exemption from the £120 per year charge for a CPZ permit. However, if they are too disabled to drive and rely on others to drive them, thoug...

Re: Family History Research
The North West Kent Family History Society publish CDs of a number of parish registers and bishop's transcripts that may be of interest to people who don't live close enough to visit church or archives. This includes some St Bart's records.

Re: What Happened to the Funding for Signage in Sydenham?
A few years ago I was involved with the Portas Pilot. I put forward various ideas for a pot of money that was supposed to be spend on signage for Sydenham (which I did for free). Nothing happened. What happened, did the money get returned? It was a reasonable chunk of money. Did it get spend on som...

Tea Service Equipment Ltd
Does anyone have any information/images/memories of Tea Service Equipment Ltd., a company which used to occupy the site where CostCutters/Malibu Court now stands at 102-108 Kirkdale? They made or supplied items such as this drinks trolley from the glamorous days of flying ... [imghttps://www.flightg...

Re: More restaurants for Sydenham
A shout out for Sydenham's Old High Street. We've the excellent Hibagon and 161 Food+Drink and, in the daytime, Cafe Jasmine and Fig & Pistachio. These are as good or better as anything you'd travel to Central London for and with the Cookery Studio coming soon and plenty of empty shops just wait...

Re: vote for the best coffee in Sydenham
Cafe Jasmine on Kirkdale. Open on a Monday morning too, when some other places closed.
The peppermint tea in Fig & Pistachio is very good too. I haven't tried their coffee.

Re: Flabbergasted
Originally they planned to have the power back by Thursday but its all on already, word has reached me that they have somehow hooked into the main line.. I have taken meter readings in case they have done what I hope they have not. If this does prove to be the case ... theft of electricity is not o...

Re: Mail deliveries
Postal services are more miss than hit on upper Kirkdale. I believe this is partly because a change of rota systems has shifted posties from consecutive four day to five day pattern, meaning our regular postman has been moved to another area. Our Simon was efficient and very thoughtful, alway giving...

Re: RIP LA Fitness
For the information of anyone who may wish to organize an ACV nomination ... http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukdsi/2012/9780111525791/contents Though I don't think this would help the pool at LA Fitness, as it sounds as though the business had been sold before it was suggested that it was viewed as an...
Re: Bollards
those vehicles parked on the back edge of the pavement in your photos might be parked on private land, as opposed to public highway, so might not be able to be fined/ticketed for parking on the footway, however, to get there they must have been driven across the footway, which is itself an offence,...
Re: Bollards
By coincidence, I took these photos on Kirkdale this morning. Just another day in the paradise for parkers courtesy of Lewisham's enforcement team. (My thanks to Stuart for the techie help in getting these snaps online.) https://sydenham.org.uk/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/mary_01.jpg https:...

Re: Twice Sweet
Thanks Mosy. My husband has popped down the hill to have a look. They are still signed up to UPS, but according to UPS they were closed at 11.03 a.m. yesterday and 2.00 p.m. today. UPS will only make one more attempt at delivery, then my parcel gets returned to sender! No reply from Twice Sweet on t...

Twice Sweet
Does anyone know if the Twice Sweet shop on Sydenham Road has closed down? They're a pick up point for UPS parcels and UPS have tried to deliver there yesterday and again today, but report the shop is closed. I can't get a reply from their landline. Hoping someone be kind enough to post if they know...

Re: Kirkdale Christmas Tree Lights switch on - 5 December 5p
Many thanks to Paul and our other Ward Councillors, Maja Hilton and Peter Bernards, for funding and organizing our very first (at least in the 15 years I've lived here!) Kirkdale Christmas tree. And huge thanks also to Maya Onyett, our Assembly manager, for all her hard work behind the scenes. Thank...

Re: Blocking Adverts on this site
And I've just found out my phone is apparently too old at the grand old age of four to allow me to take screen shots. Hey Ho there goes the environment, disappearing up a spiral of consumerism. Cheaper to put up with the parade of remarkably hard faced tarts really ... and just hope they're not stru...

Re: Blocking Adverts on this site
Nope no one else has access to my phone. Nor have I been visiting dodgy websites. It's odd that STF is the only site this happens on and also that they're not trying to sell me anything even remotely related to anything I've ever bought online or any news stories or websites I've visited (apart from...
