Re: Houses built in Crystal palace park?
This is a con, all this land can be returned to public access without using any of it for redevelopment for housing. Insisting on redevelopment, with the promise of the return of land to public use sometime after is a rhetorical offer . . . I remain amazed how many consider the pros and cons, when t...

Re: Req info: view of Anerley Hill and Crystal Palace
On 11 Apr 2008 - Falkor said (at the beginning of this thread) : has anyone seen this photo showing a somewhat rural Anerley Hill from about 1852 looking up towards the Crystal Palace--under construction--with the skeleton of Wilde's south tower? In the foreground is a pub called The Rising Sun clos...

Re: A Walk through the Nave of the Crystal Palace 1854
Bit of a mish mash of a post. Was looking for an image of the tall clock in the south nave [not the Dent Clock] and came across these. I've looked through Mr Charles Scwartz site [www.cs-photo.com/] before, but he has more views now, which I thought I would share here. First up, a single image from ...

Who knows, this material was prepared before the event. A small note in a teachers guide for schoolchildren visiting the festival informs us the Kearney High Speed Railway did not appear after all. 'New London' didn't happen either.
