Thank you for all your comments. I have industrial strength earplugs now so I'm hoping I'll sleep better, but I really cannot see myself living there any longer than the 6 months I'm bound by contract to do so! Unfortunately London is so overcrowded that people are often crammed into boxes within bo...

I wish, Sydenhamboy, but I'm renting the flat and I can't see my Landlord taking too kindly to me requesting she spend out all that money on getting the ceiling insulated or something! :( I think my only answer is approach them, and if that doesn't work, I need to sit tight and wait til I can move a...

I am SOOOO glad that bus lane got put in! I take it a lot of you have your own car if you're not in favour. Well I'm one of those who doesn't, and I have to come down Kirkdale to get home from work. When there was no bus lane, I could be sitting in the Kirkdale/Cobbs Corner traffic for up to 20 minu...

Well I'm 33 and I'm going to go and have a look at this gym this weekend. There's loads of places to drink in Sydenham, and a new cafe at the top of Sydenham Road, I think this new concept gym is a much better idea...

Upstairs Neighbours - advice please

Further to the post about the rail noise, which seems to have died down now, I just wondered if anyone living in flat in a purpose-built block that's not on the top floor finds they have problems with noise from the upstairs flat? I'm having such a hard adjustment period since moving in, every night...

Re: Gymophobia on Station Approach

Just noticed signs in one of the disused premises on Sydenham Station Approach for something called Gymophobics. Looks like it's a ladies only concept gym: http://www.gymophobics.co.uk/ i.e. a gym with 30minute sessions for old biddies.. sorry but look at the website!! There goes our coffee shop :(...

I went past it yesterday on the 176 on my way home, it was about 4.45pm/5pm... and it was packed in there!! The tables seemed to have been crammed in and people were sitting round all of them. I don't think I'd go in there if more than a couple of tables were taken as it's so small and I don't think...

Thanks for the replies, I ordered new earplugs which arrived yesterday and I slept right past 2am and woke after the railway noise would normally have finished. Praise earplugs I say!!!! Other than that, I guess I'll get used to it all. I'll look forward to the 'Starship Enterprise' though - a...

Sydenham Rail Engineering Works

PLEEEAAASE SOMEONE HELP... I just moved back to Lawrie Park Road, and my bedroom window overlooks the train track. The last two mornings at 2am, they begin engineering works on Sydenham railway line, drilling, hammering and shouting to each other?! :x Does anyone know what's going on or how long it'...
